The Demons have put their disappointing end to the 2022 season behind with Mad Monday celebrations at a popular Melbourne pub.
Players gathered at The Sporting Globe Bar & Grill in Richmond to drown their sorrows after a tumultuous season of internal bickering and drunken argument between Steven May and Jake Melsham over a team dinner.
It’s the same location where footage was captured of superstar Dustin Martin groping a topless woman during the Tigers’ year-end celebrations in 2015.
Many players wore VFL medals after Melbourne’s reserve league, the Casey Demons, won the league’s grand final on Saturday, but there were no outrageous outfits, with the squad wearing mostly casual T-shirts and jeans.

That said, forward star Ben Brown and Alex Neal-Bullen bizarrely wore goggles for the occasion for unknown reasons.
Brown appeared to be wearing his daughter’s pink pair and somehow pressed them over his afro, while Neal-Bullen took it to the next level by also wearing a rash shirt and board shorts.
Christian Petracca arrives at the Sporting Globe on Monday, fresh from his sixth place finish in the Brownlow Medal the day before
No doubt many players were happy that the Brownlow Medal, traditionally scheduled for a Monday night, was moved to Sunday to avoid a clash with the Queen’s funeral.
Christian Petracca was pictured in the photo arriving fresh from sixth place as May also entered the venue.
May was banned for one game by the club after falling into a drunken stupor with teammate Melksham while suffering a concussion.

The much-discussed incident took place in June at the glamorous French restaurant Entrecote, with May reportedly taunting Melksham and another teammate for not playing in the squad’s historic grand final win in 2021.
Melksham responded by punching May in the face, with the scenes slammed by footy fans and the owner of the restaurant.
Luke Dunstan, who played five games for the Demons this season after moving from St Kilda, looked tired as he arrived at the pub after being one of the lead players for Casey in their VFL big final win.

It has been a disappointing season for Melbourne after they claimed the flag in 2021.
While the club finished in second place in the regular season, the team dipped after the May-Melksham fiasco, which came after a 10-0 start.
They won just six of their 12 remaining matches and were tied in straight sets by Brisbane and Sydney in the final.
