Melbourne dad is allegedly attacked by thief after trying to get back his stolen car
The shocking moment a self-assured father needed facial surgery after being beaten by a man who allegedly stole his new car has been caught on camera.
Tony Bui, 41, bravely confronted an alleged thief accused of stealing his brand new Kia Carnival from the driveway of his home in Footscray, in central Melbourne, at 6am on Saturday morning.
By chance, Mr Bui’s 12-year-old son spotted the car in the city centre on Nicholson Street on Tuesday morning.
Mr. Bui then called the police and waited for their arrival.
But before they showed up, a brawl broke out between Mr Bui and the alleged thief, leaving the headstrong father with a broken nose and a broken cheek.
Mr Bui’s 12-year-old son, who captured the brave confrontation on camera, also shouted Tripe-0.
“My father is bleeding, my father is bleeding,” he told the operator.
“Can you please come quickly?”

Mr Bui told Channel 9 he was disappointed that it took more than 20 minutes for police to arrive after his initial call.
The alleged thief managed to flee before police arrived.
A Vitoria police spokeswoman said that after seeing his car, Mr Bui “confronted the perpetrator when he got into the car”.
‘It is believed that the perpetrator then attacked the 41-year-old man and fled on foot,’ the spokeswoman said.
