One of Australia’s all-time favorite runners, ‘Fairy Floss Girl’ has fallen on hard times and almost ended up behind bars.
Karly Tsivoglou set the internet on fire when the Daily Mail Australia photographed her casually mocking fairy floss on Melbourne’s Day of the Oaks in 2016.
The photos went viral across the country, with KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands calling the 19-year-old “sexier than Selena Gomez.”
On Wednesday, the 24-year-old appeared in Moorabbin Magistrate Court after failing to serve a good conduct bond she was given for a series of dishonesty matters.

Appearing alongside a lawyer from Victorian Legal Aid, the court heard that Tsivoglou had been charged with one count of handling stolen property, five counts of obtaining property by deceit and one count of burglary.
The incidents occurred in March 2021, while Melbourneians were subject to one of the longest Covid-19 lockdowns on the planet.
The court heard that Tsivoglou admitted to the crimes in January last year through the court’s diversion program.
Under Victorian law, diversion plans are often issued to first-time offenders and are designed not to affect a person’s life in the future.
Under the diversion plan, Tsivoglou was not required to formally plead guilty to the charges, instead simply admitting to the crimes charged.
She was released on 12-month bail on the condition that she apologize to the court in January this year.
Tsivoglou was charged by police after failing to provide the court with that apology, which brought her back to court again charged with violating the order.
The rape meant that Magistrate Steven Raleigh was forced to sentence Tsivoglou again for his initial crimes.
Her lawyer told Raleigh Tsivoglou that she had fallen on hard times after her parents separated.
“She has had shaky living arrangements since her parents separated…the letter went to a previous address where her partner lived,” her attorney said.
The court heard Tsivoglou claim that he simply did not receive the court’s correspondence in the post and that he had promptly provided the apology letter upon learning of the breach.

Karly Tsivoglou, aka Fairy Floss Girl, was charged with dishonesty offences.
It took Magistrate Raleigh only seconds to unload her original distraction, allowing Tsivoglou to walk free without a blemish on her record.
“You’ve been punished enough,” he said.
Dressed in a long brown coat, Tsivoglou said nothing as she walked to a white BMW and drove away.
Tsivoglou previously told Daily Mail Australia that he was “happy” to be in the news for every Melbourne Cup.
“I’m happy with it,” he said.
Tsivoglou said that she and her friend Alice Woodfall “had a few glasses of champagne, placed some bets and just enjoyed the sunshine” at the races and had no idea of their internet stardom until the next morning.
“I woke up this morning to so many messages and screenshots of photos! I was honestly shocked!” he said at the time.
“My social media accounts have been going crazy all morning!”
Tsivoglou said she had received a lot of praise at the races, but was surprised by how many people “professed their love” once her photos went viral.
“Some people claimed they had a crush on me,” she said.
“But both Alice and I received a lot of positive praise throughout the day.”

From then on, Tsivoglou regularly shared photos of nights out and poolside vacations on his social media.
However, her online presence has taken a turn in recent years with the new mom focusing on her young son.
The pictures show the mother and son duo enjoying crafts, days at the beach, and bath time.
But Tsivoglou still manages to get in on the occasional glamorous snap.
Nearly every year around the time of the Melbourne Cup, Sandilands brings out the memorable footage of Tsivoglou.

“She looks amazing, she’s got cotton candy hanging out of her mouth…it’s all happening,” she said at the time.
“She’s like a girl who looks like Selena Gomez,” said Jackie O.
“But hotter,” Kyle added.
The Sydney radio host brought up the ‘Fairy Floss Girl’ again in a November 2020 segment on iconic Melbourne Cup moments.
“God, I can’t remember,” her co-host “Jackie O” told her. ‘Why was it so memorable?’
Kyle responded defensively: ‘Because she was a beautiful brown girl. She was just beautiful. She was digging the hoe into that big stick of fairy string.
