Melbourne City vs Melbourne Victory A-League match resumes THREE MONTHS after being abandoned

The clash between Melbourne City and arch-rivals Victory resumes after THREE MONTHS after it was abandoned due to fan chaos when goalkeeper Tom Glover kicked off after 21 minutes

The Melbourne derby restarted more than three months later after it was abandoned due to ugly scenes that put Australian football to shame.

Melbourne Victory’s clash with table toppers City was brought to an abrupt halt last December when fans invaded the pitch and attacked City goalkeeper Tom Glover, who was hit in the face by a flare.

Meanwhile, referee Alex King, a TV cameraman and two security guards were also injured in the fight.

Some of the 150 thugs who invaded the field received life bans, while Victory fans were banned from home and away matches for a short period of time.

And now, more than three months after the darkest day in Australian football, the Melbourne derby resumed after 21 minutes, with King dropping the ball for Glover to get things going again, with City leading 1-0 thanks to a goal by Aiden O’Neill.

More to follow.
