Melbourne City star Scott Jamieson’s clash with Mariners staffer at A-League grand final

Stunning new footage shows a furious clash between Melbourne City captain Scott Jamieson and Central Coast staffer ahead of the A-League grand final: ‘Don’t touch him! He’s a boy!’

Stunning footage has surfaced online of a heated on-pitch clash between Melbourne City captain Scott Jamieson and Central Coast Mariners Head of Athletic Development Andy Bernal ahead of the A-League grand final.

A-Leagues All Access cameras tweeted the exchange, which came as tension rose ahead of kick-off at Sydney’s Commbank Stadium on June 3.

Jamieson, in his last professional match before retiring, became agitated after noticing the Mariners staff, led by Bernal, telling rookie City goalkeeper Matt Sutton to ‘stay in his half’ as both teams warmed up.

The defender, 34, then ran over and told the Mariners coaches in no uncertain terms to leave Sutton alone and ‘don’t touch him’ as he is ‘just a boy’.

Predictably, the Mariners held on, with Bernal and Jamieson almost coming to blows, while the left-back unleashed a flurry of obscenities as he tried to protect the rattled youngster.

Jamieson stood up for rookie goaltender Matt Sutton, who angered the Mariners coaching staff with his warm-up technique

‘Andy! Andy! Don’t fucking touch him! Don’t touch him, he’s a boy!’ yells Jamieson.

“He came on our half!” Bernal replies.

“Don’t fucking touch him!” Jamieson fires back as the Mariners staffer says “then go to your goddamn half!”

“Yeah, go ahead, you f**king k**bhead!” says the City skipper just before the pair come close to physical clash with Bernal pointing his finger in his rival’s face.

The incident set the tone for the decider, which the rampant Mariners won 6-1 thanks to a hat-trick from outgoing striker Jason Cummings.

Born in Scotland and who represented the Socceroos at last year’s World Cup, Cummings opened the scoring midway through the first half after bouncing off a loose ball and finishing past City goalkeeper Thomas Glover.

He then took home the match ball after scoring two second-half penalties.

“Last dance, man, I don’t know what happened,” Cummings said after the emphatic victory over the shocked league winners.

What a trip dude. I’ve been here for a year and a half and the gaffer [Nick Montgomery] changed my life.

“My career was spiraling out of control, but I love the Central Coast guy, I’m speechless.

“I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life, I’ve never had a manager believe in me as much as he does.”

Cummings is expected to sign a lucrative deal with Mohun Bagan, making him the highest paid player in the Indian Super League.
