Dash cam footage captured the horrifying moment when a cyclist was thrown off his bike after a BMW cut off a lane and crashed into him.
The 20-year-old cyclist was driving along Princess Highway in south Melbourne in December last year when a silver BMW SUV tried to turn left onto Springvale Road and hit him.
The footage, taken on December 18, 2022 but published Monday, came from the car’s dashcam directly behind the cyclist and captured the exact moment the cyclist was sent away.
The BMW was in the second from the left lane when they attempted to dramatically cut ahead of traffic and turn left from a forward-only lane.
The cyclist’s shoe flew with the bike after being struck by the rear of the vehicle.

The BMW driver continued on Springvale Road, towards town, but eventually stopped to go back and look at the downed rider sprawled in the middle of the busy intersection.
The dashcam driver immediately stopped to check on the rider, who was trying to sit up and get his bearings in the footage published by Dashcam Owners Australia.
Victoria Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that the BMW driver, a 66-year-old woman from Glen Huntly, has been investigated by police and fined for not yielding the right of way.
The male cyclist, a man from Croydon South, was taken to hospital for observation.
