Melania Trump reveals what she really thinks about ‘top-level’ of Secret Service and whether they can keep her husband safe
Former First Lady Melania Trump revealed Sunday that it was still difficult to trust the Secret Service to protect her husband after former President Donald Trump was shot by a would-be assassin on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The former first lady said she and her husband had a “great team” on the ground protecting them, but cast doubt on the leaders of the agency charged with their safety.
“It’s hard to say you trust well, who you really trust,” she said. “You want that, but it always remains a question mark.”
Melania Trump said she hoped recent leadership changes at the top of the agency would improve their level of protection.

“I think there’s something there, how something is going on at the highest level, or what it was like when the shooting happened,” she said. “I know some people have changed their views, but let’s hope this never happens again.”
Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned 10 days after the assassination attempt, saying the Secret Service was slow to release details about the agency’s failure to protect the president that day.
Her replacement, acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, also faced questions after an armed man came close to the former president outside the gate of his golf course in Palm Beach, Florida.
Melania Trump laid out her thoughts on the Secret Service in an exclusive sit-down interview with Fox Business anchor Maria Bartimo on Sunday.

Melania Trump said she fully supported her husband as he returned to the stage.
“I love it, I support him and he’s a fighter,” she said. “He will never stop, he is on the road every day, he is helping this country.”

She said it was important for her husband to return to Butler.
“I think he wants to finish what he came to do, finish his remarks and his speech and show that we’re not going to stop … that one gunman is not going to stop him.”
She admitted it was still difficult to relive the day she saw her husband shot on television, especially after watching new videos detailing how close the bullet came to killing him.
“It’s still very hard to see,” she said. “It’s very hard to watch.”
