Melania Trump reveals how often she and Barron will be at the White House as she details her $40m documentary
Melania Trump revealed the details of her $40 million documentary, where she will live as first lady, and whether Barron will come to the White House in a new interview that aired Monday.
The new first lady started a conversation with Ainsley Earhardt on Fox & Friends about her plans for her second term in the White House.
She indicated that, unlike her first four years in the role, she plans to take on a much more prominent role in the White House. In addition to her documentary, she plans to expand her Be Best campaign.
She explained that she feels much better prepared to be the presidential spouse this time around.
‘I know where I’m going. I know the rooms where we will live. I know the process,” she said.
Melania Trump spent much of her first term as first lady raising her son Barron, who was 11 years old when Donald Trump first became president. He spent his teenage years at the residence. Melania Trump was a protective mother and rarely allowed him to be in the public eye.
But Barron is now 18 and a freshman at New York University. She said he would come visit.
“He’s definitely coming to visit, yes,” she said. ‘I feel like the kids we have feel like they’re 18, 19 years old. We teach them, we guide them. And then we give them the wings to fly. And I always respect Barron’s yes and no and what he likes to do, where he would like to be.”

Melania Trump also offered new details about her upcoming documentarytar.
She said it was her idea and that it came to her after her memoir, Melania, became a bestseller.
‘The book was such a success and I am very proud and I get so many messages and letters saying they are enjoying the book. And they would love – my fans and people would love – to hear more from me. So I had an idea to make a movie, make a movie about my life,” she said.
‘My life is incredible. It’s incredibly busy. And I said to my agent, you know, I have an idea. So please, you know, go out there and make me a deal.”
The film is about what it is like for her to return to the White House for a second term. The film will be released in theaters this fall and later air on Amazon.
Amazon paid $40 million for the rights to the documentary. It’s unclear how much of that money went to the new first lady, who is credited as a producer in the film.
Melania Trump is not subject to the kind of federal rules about making money that Donald Trump is as president. She is not a government employee and there are no legal restrictions on benefiting financially as first lady.
The documentary began filming in November and will continue production through Inauguration Day.
“It’s a daily life what I do and what responsibilities I have,” she said.
“People don’t really know and they’ll see it – it’s day by day, from the transition team to moving into the White House, packing up, setting up my team,” she adds, noting that it will include ‘what is needed to stay your home. To hire the people you need.”
There are reports that Melania Trump will be a part-time first lady and will spend much of her time in New York, where her son Barron Trump is studying at New York University.
But she said she will be at the White House if necessary.
“I’ll be in the White House. If I have to be in New York, I’ll be in New York. “If I have to be in Palm Beach, I’ll be in Palm Beach,” she said.
“My first priority is, you know, being a mother, being first lady, being a wife. And when we get there on January 20, you will serve the country.”

Melania Trump revealed that she has already selected the furniture and other items for the upper floors where the first family lives. And it will be much as it was four years ago, when the Trumps lived there.
‘A small change. Not much,” she said.
White House staff are busy moving the Bidens outside and the Trumps inside on January 20.
Moving vans were spotted at the White House last week. The packing materials — stacks of boxes and rolls of bubble wrap — were unloaded to pack the Bidens’ belongings.
Staff will have about five hours on Inauguration Day to turn around the home. When the Trumps enter the upper floors after the swearing-in ceremony, all their belongings are unpacked and waiting for them.
“The first time was a challenge,” Melania admitted when she moved into the White House in January 2017.
“We didn’t have much of the information the previous government got before us, but this time I have everything. I have the plans. I could move in. I’ve already packed. I’ve already picked out the, you know, the furniture that needs to go in there. So the second time around, the transition is very different this time.”
Now she feels better prepared.
She said she has hired a few positions for her East Wing staff but will wait to hire more. And she plans to revive her signature Be Best campaign, which focused on helping children.
“I have a few positions I need to take,” she said. ‘I’m not going to rush into that. I’ll see when I get to the White House and what’s needed. I don’t want to hire too many people on my team and spend too much tax money. I want to ensure that they are talented and have merit in every position. They know what they’re doing. And on top of that, they are a team player. They have no agenda of their own, so they serve me.”

In her second term as first lady, Melania Trump said she wants to expand Be Best and hopes she will get support from the business community.
“I started in the first government and didn’t get much support from anyone. I invited all streaming platforms to the White House. I had the round table. And I didn’t get much support from them. And imagine what we could do in those years if they would stand behind me and educate and protect the children about social media and their mental health.”
And Melania Trump made it clear that she will be her own woman in her second term as first lady.
“I feel like I was always myself the first time too,” she said.
“I just feel like maybe people didn’t accept me. They didn’t understand me the way they might now. And I didn’t get much support. Maybe some people just see me as the president’s wife. But I stand on my own two feet. Independent. I have my own thoughts. I have my own yes and no. I don’t always agree with what my husband says or does, and that’s okay.”
