Melania Trump reveals Donald’s reaction to her bombshell stance on abortion in her new tell-all memoir

Former First Lady Melania Trump revealed Sunday that husband Donald “lets me be who I am” as she wrote about her pro-abortion stance in her new memoir.

Donald Trump famously said “I could kill Roe v. Wade” in 2023 after appointing three Supreme Court justices during his presidency, who ultimately tipped the scales in deciding whether women had the right to choose.

In the book, Melania writes that it is “indispensable to ensure that women have autonomy in determining their preference for having children.”

Maria Bartiromo asked her: “Did you talk to President Trump about that before you wrote that in the book?”

“Yes, he knew my position and my beliefs since the day we met,” Melania replied. ‘And I believe in individual freedom. I want to decide for myself what I want to do with my body. I guess I don’t want government in my personal affairs. I think it’s very important.’

She told Fox News that Donald knew in advance that the screed would play a role in her memoir.

“He knew my beliefs, like I said, so he knew it would be in the book. He let me be who I am. And he made me believe what I believe. He lets me be my own person, and he respects that.”

She said that while she has strong opinions on the issue, she can live with her husband’s differences.

‘And I respect that, because I let him be his own person. He has different beliefs and he will do what he believes in. He will be elected an official,” she said.

Melania’s views on abortion were revealed earlier this week when the press obtained an early copy of the book.

‘Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? A woman’s fundamental right to individual freedom over her own life gives her the power to terminate her pregnancy if she so chooses,” she wrote.

“Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is like denying her control over her own body,” she says. ‘I have carried this belief with me my entire adult life.’

This admission raises eyebrows, just a month before her husband competes in the presidential elections with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, as the right to abortion will become one of the most decisive issues among voters.

Harris has positioned herself as the “pro-choice” candidate, while Trump has struggled to find a clear position on the issue.

More recently, Trump has compared himself to Ronald Reagan on abortion issues, saying he believes in exceptions in cases of rape, incest and saving the life of the mother, often coming into conflict with evangelicals.

As president, Trump appointed three conservative justices who in 2022 voted to overturn Roe, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court ruling that gave women the federal right to abortion.

He has said he has “no regrets” about the appointments.

While the overthrow was cheered by the anti-abortion wing of the Republican Party, the former president has recently realized that the issue has put the Republican Party in danger.

Since the 2022 ruling, Democrats have won a string of election victories by campaigning against abortion. It is thought that this caused Republicans to underperform in the 2022 midterm elections.

In August, Trump told DailyMail.com exclusively that he could vote to end Florida’s draconian six-week abortion ban when it comes up in a referendum later this year.

Days later, after irritating his party’s anti-abortion wing, he said he would not vote to overturn the six-week limit.

This Tuesday, Trump finally said he would veto a federal abortion ban, after previously avoiding a clear answer.

In her memoir, Melania writes that “occasional political disagreements between me and my husband” are “part of our relationship,” adding that she believes in “addressing them personally rather than challenging him publicly.”

Later in the book she explains why she supports abortion.

“I have always believed that it is critical that people take care of themselves first,” she says. ‘It’s a very simple concept; In fact, we are all born with a number of fundamental rights, including the right to enjoy our lives.”

‘We all have the right to a satisfying and dignified existence. This common sense approach applies to a woman’s natural right to make decisions about her own body and health.”

Elsewhere in the Fox interview Sunday, Melania said it was still difficult to trust the Secret Service to protect her husband after former President Donald Trump was shot by a would-be assassin on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The former first lady said she and her husband had a “great team” on the ground protecting them, but cast doubt on the leaders of the agency charged with their safety.

“It’s hard to say you trust well, who you really trust,” she said. “You want that, but it always remains a question mark.”

Melania Trump said she hoped recent leadership changes at the top of the agency would improve their level of protection.
