Melania Trump mocked for ‘smothering’ Barron, 18, as she prepares to split time between New York and DC to be ‘full-time mom’
Melania Trump has been furiously mocked online after admitting she would split her time between the White House and New York City to care for her 18-year-old son Barron.
The 54-year-old wife of the sitting president is reportedly trying to stay out of the spotlight during husband Donald’s second term, with many insiders claiming Melania will take on a ‘part-time’ First Lady role.
Melania has been virtually invisible throughout the 2024 race and it appears her reluctance to pursue a political life will continue into the newly elected president’s second term.
Melania appears to want to avoid the chaos surrounding DC, with reports that she will only make occasional visits to the White House.
After Donald is inaugurated in January, Melania will split her time between Florida and Manhattan, spending most of her time in the Big Apple, where Barron attends college.
Although the former model is shying away from her duties as First Lady, she will focus full-time on mothering their son, who is enrolled at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
While her 18-year-old may be eager to run around Manhattan, Melania appears to be keeping a tight leash on her son, a move that has sparked a wave of backlash from people telling her to “cut the umbilical cord.”
After it was revealed that the mother wasn’t ready to give her son a taste of freedom, people flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to furiously tease Melania as many accused her of ‘smothering’ her child.
