Melania Trump’s very specific menu: Former first lady reveals the food she absolutely would not eat during foreign travel

Melania Trump has one food she doesn’t eat, no matter where she is in the world.

“I made it known that I don’t eat raw fish,” she revealed in her memoir “Melania” on Tuesday.

Her food preferences became an issue when she and then President Donald Trump visited Japan in May 2019 for a formal state visit, including a formal dinner at the Imperial Palace.

Before the big night, Melania informed her staff that sushi was not allowed.

‘Yet I still did my best to try local cuisine whenever possible. That evening in Tokyo, the meal was a delicious blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the best of Japanese cuisine while satisfying my preferences,” she wrote.

The first couple was served a six-course menu of consommé a la royale and turbot a la meunière sauce tomato, followed by cote de boeuf rotie, salad de saison, glace mont fuji and a sixth course of melon and grapes.

There was no raw fish to be seen.

Melania wore a pale pink and silver feathered hooded dress to the black-tie dinner, which was hosted by the Japanese Emperor and Empress.

During that visit, the Trumps also dined at a traditional Japanese restaurant with then-Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie Abe.

Once again sushi was removed from the menu.

The two couples enjoyed fried potatoes with butter, salad, wagyu steak with broccoli and carrots and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

The detail is one of the few personal revelations in her memoir, which delves into her time as first lady without delving into some of the more controversial moments, such as Stormy Daniel’s claim that she had an affair with Donald Trump.

The 256-page book is filled with stories from Melania’s childhood in Slovenia and photos from her private life, including her childhood in Europe and raising her son Barron in New York.

The former first lady has been the subject of many biographies and books, but this is the first time she has told her story.

She is selling two editions: a $150 collector’s edition with 256 full-color pages, with each copy signed by the author. The memoir edition will be 304 pages and available for $40, while signed copies will be available for $75.

Her book contains some shocking revelations, such as that she supports a woman’s right to choose when it comes to abortion – in contrast to her husband’s position on the issue.

The former first lady wrote that she has “carried this belief throughout her adult life.”

“It is imperative to ensure that women have autonomy in deciding their childbearing preferences, based on their own beliefs, free from any government intervention or pressure,” Melania wrote.

‘Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? A woman’s fundamental right to individual freedom over her own life gives her the power to terminate her pregnancy if she so chooses,” she continued.

“Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is like denying her control over her own body,” she says. ‘I have carried this belief with me my entire adult life.’

The admission raises eyebrows, just a month before her husband enters a presidential election battle with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, with the right to abortion set to become one of the most decisive issues among voters.

In her book, the former first lady also revealed why she wore her “I really don’t care” jacket to the Texas border to visit migrant children being held separately from their parents.

She details the story in a section of the book in which she claims she forced husband Donald to drop his harsh immigration policy of separating children from their parents at the border under the government’s “zero tolerance” policy.

But when she made a surprise visit to a migrant detention center in June 2018, she caused a frenzy when she wore a jacket with the message ‘I really don’t care. Do you?’

It caused an avalanche of criticism when she left the world guessing what she meant by such a bold statement.

Melania called the message “discreet yet impactful” and claimed it was meant to protest “anonymous reporting.’

“I was determined… not to let the media’s false narratives influence my mission to help the children and families at the border,” she wrote.

“I even decided to let them know that their criticism would never stop me from doing what I believe is right. To drive the point home, I was wearing a certain jacket when I boarded the plane, a jacket that quickly became famous,” she added.

“It’s a message to the media,” I said, “to let them know I didn’t care about their opinion of me.” [but] she told me I couldn’t say that. ‘Why not? It’s the truth.” Trump wrote about their exchange.

“I disagreed with her insistence that I couldn’t say that,” Trump wrote. “She ignored my comments and told a CNN reporter she was friends with that it was just a jacket, a fashion choice with no underlying message.”

Former First Lady Melania Trump sparked controversy when she wore a jacket with the message “I really don’t care.” You too?’ when she went to visit migrant children at the US-Mexico border in June 2018. She now claims the message was aimed at the media

Trump wrote that the frenzy over the jacket “overshadowed the best interests of the children, the border and policy change.” She called it ‘just another example of the media’s irresponsible behavior.’

Her then-press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, disputed Trump’s account that the jacket was intended to target the media in her own book.

The now Trump critic claimed that when they returned to Washington DC after the trip, Trump was the one who came up with the idea and told them they were “talking to the damn press.”

The administration has been embroiled in controversy for taking a tough approach to stopping illegal migrants from entering the US, threatening to arrest any perpetrator who crosses the southern border.

As a result, family members would be temporarily held separately while they go through processing procedures.

The policy caused an international outcry in 2018 while her husband was president, but the ex-first lady says she forced him to end it.

“This has got to stop,” the former first lady told her husband.

She wrote that she “highlighted the trauma it caused these families” and he “assured her” he would investigate before announcing the end of the policy on June 20, 2018.

She called the family separations “unacceptable.”
