Melania Trump calls on US to ‘unify’ and reveals her priority if husband is elected for second time as she prepares for first solo campaign event

Melania Trump spoke about the importance of uniting the nation at a time when her husband’s MAGA supporters are causing division in the Republican Party.

“We must unite in our efforts to establish a society where equality is the daily experience of every American,” the former first lady said. Fox News digital. “Individual freedom provides a unifying set of principles and ultimately defines our American way of doing things.”

“Together we must nourish and protect the seeds of freedom,” she continued. “Because when America is successful, America blossoms into a wonderful place where everyone can put their beliefs into practice, share new ideas and express individualism – this is when we are at our best.”

Melania Trump’s comments came as Donald Trump sat in a New York courtroom watching jury selection while facing felony charges related to a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Melania has not been by her husband’s side during the trial and has distanced herself from the case. Sources close to her told DailyMail.com that she is following the news but is likely angry that Trump drugged their son Barron in the case.

And she called for unity as a third House Republican joined an effort to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, citing outrage over Johnson’s decision to move forward with aid to Ukraine. Several conservatives object to sending more money to the war-torn country.

In the interview, the former first lady also outlined what she would do if she returns to the White House.

“The safety and well-being of American families remains my top priority,” she told Fox News Digital. ‘Our children are our future leaders, the innovators of tomorrow.’

She added that it is “vital that we provide the highest level of care for our next generation; to ensure they not only thrive, but reach their full potential.”

“In turn, our nation will be sustained for generations,” she said.

As first lady, Melania Trump started a Be Best initiative dedicated to child safety.

She has stayed away from the 2024 election cycle, but on Saturday evening she will host her first solo event: a fundraiser for Log Cabin Republicans at the couple’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

She has long ties with the group. In 2021, she was the special guest at a dinner the Log Cabin Republicans hosted at Mar-a-Lago, where she received an award.

The night she hosts a fundraiser for them, Donald Trump will be in Wilmington, Del., for a campaign rally.

It will be a rare political appearance for Melania Trump, who stayed away from her husband’s re-election bid.

She appeared with him behind closed doors last month at a huge fundraiser for his campaign that raised more than $50 million.

It is unclear what role Melania Trump will play in her husband’s campaign for a second term in the White House.

She has made just two formal public appearances for his campaign: at the kickoff in November 2022 and last month when she appeared with him to vote in Florida’s presidential primaries.

Afterwards she was asked when she would appear on the campaign trail again.

“Stay tuned,” she replied.

The Saturday event marks the launch of the Log Cabin Republicans’ “Road to Victory” program, which targets voters in swing states. The group is for LGBT conservatives.

Richard Grenell, who served as Trump’s ambassador to Germany and is openly gay, will also appear at the event on Saturday.

The former first lady remains popular among Trump’s MAGA supporters, but is somewhat of an enigma.

In the seven months of Donald Trump’s campaign, she has barely been visible.

Her most notable absence was on Super Tuesday, one of Donald Trump’s biggest nights of the election season. It marked the contest in which he essentially won the Republican nomination.

She did not appear at his victory event at Mar-a-Lago, even though most of his adult children were present.
