Mel Gibson says he’s voting for Donald Trump in November and believes Kamala Harris has the intelligence of a fence post.
The Braveheart star and devout Catholic’s views on politics in America have shifted in several directions over the course of his career — he said he wouldn’t have voted for either major candidate in 2016 — but appears to be voting for Trump this time .
When caught by TMZ at LAX on Thursday, he was asked who he would vote for in 2024, sarcastically saying, “Oh man, that’s a big question. I don’t think it will surprise anyone I vote for.”
After confirming that Trump was a “pretty good bet,” he suggested he knew “what it would be like if we let her in,” referring to Harris.
‘That’s not good. A miserable record, a terrible record, no policies to speak of and she has the IQ of a witch pole,” Gibson said.

The 68-year-old’s political views include the idea that Bill Clinton was a “low-level opportunist” in the 1990s, while in the 2000s he opposed George W. Bush’s wars in the Middle East .
However, he said he did not vote for Trump or Hillary Clinton in 2016.
In 2021, Gibson greeted Donald Trump in the crowd during Saturday’s UFC clash between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.
The Hollywood actor and director, 65, acknowledged the former US president as he walked past UFC 264 in Las Vegas surrounded by his bodyguards.
Gibson faced significant backlash following his recorded tirade during the 2006 Malibu arrest.
He later apologized, claiming there was “no excuse” for his behavior, and specifically expressed regret to the “Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words.”
In 2016 he said Variety that his offensive comments during his arrest were “illegally recorded by an unscrupulous police officer.”
He added: “Ten years have passed. I feel good. I’m sober, all that stuff, and for me it’s a vague thing in the past. But others bring it up, which I find annoying because I don’t understand why it’s still a problem after ten years.’

The Braveheart star emphasized that he does not discriminate and believes he should not be judged for the objectionable comments he made while under the influence.
The police report also stated that at one point Mel saw a female officer and yelled at her, “What do you think you’re looking at, sugar t*ts?”
In his apology letter to the League against defamationhe wrote: “There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or makes any form of anti-Semitic comment.
“I would like to apologize to everyone in the Jewish community for the vicious and harmful words I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested for driving under the influence.”
He had previously said in a statement that he was “taking the necessary steps” to combat his battle with alcohol abuse.
Many people, including Robert Downey Jr., have spoken out in favor of giving Gibson a new lease on life in Hollywood.
Most recently, actor Andrew Garfield said it’s time to move past Mel Gibson’s judgment following the Oscar winner’s anti-Semitic comments during a 2006 DUI arrest.
The 41-year-old Spider-Man alum, who appeared in Gibson’s 2016 film Hacksaw Ridge, described the filmmaker as a “really empathetic man” who “deserves a second chance” during a Thursday interview with People.
