Mel B has credited her fiancé Rory McPhee with making her feel “more confident than ever” after she was called “fat and ugly” during her wedding to ex Stephen Belafonte.
The Spice Girl, 48, claimed she suffered years of physical and mental abuse during her previous relationship, which left her with no self-confidence.
Mel said in a new interview this week that her new partner calls her “beautiful every day” as she recalled her abusive relationship with her second husband.
TThe singer and fiancée Rory have reportedly been dating since 2018, when they met through mutual friends in Los Angeles, including celebrity makeup artist Renee Camilleri.
She said The sunthat Stephen, whom she was married to from 2007 – 2017, would mention her name. Mr Belafonte has denied the claims of abuse.

“He said week in and week out, ‘You look old, you look fat, God, you’re ugly, your arms are weak,'” Mel admitted.
‘In a way, those comments are like rain. They seep right into you, they wash away your confidence, your self-esteem and when you look in the mirror you don’t see a strong, happy woman – you see a reflection of what you are told: ‘fat, ugly, old. .. worthless’
‘It took me years, but I now feel more confident than ever and I have a partner who tells me he loves me and tells me every day that I am beautiful. It all helps.’
It comes after Mel revealed some intimate details about her upcoming wedding to her fiancé Rory.
The Spice Girls star told 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin that she wanted her special day to take place at one of the most famous wedding venues in England.
‘Because I have an MBE I can get married in the same place where Princess Diana married Charles. “I’m still waiting to return from St. Paul’s Cathedral in London,” she said.
“We’ve submitted all our forms and we’re just waiting for them to give us the day.”
She said her former Spice Girls bandmate Victoria Beckham would design a glamorous wedding dress for her.
For example: She told The Sun that Stephen, who she was married to from 2007 to 2017, would verbally abuse her: ‘He said: ‘You look old, you look fat, God you’re ugly, your arms are weak ” she said (pictured together in 2016)
‘As soon as I have the date, I will go shopping for wedding dresses. Victoria Beckham wants to make me a dress,” she added.
It is claimed that Leeds-born hairdresser Rory got down on one knee to propose at luxury country hotel Cliveden House in Berkshire in November 2022 with a £100,000 ($196,405 AUD) diamond ring.
In August, Mel B said she had found comfort and trust in her fiancé Rory after years of abuse in her previous marriage to Stephen.
Mel shares eldest daughter Phoenix, 24, with her first ex-husband, Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar, who she met in 1998. Madison Brown Belafonte, 12, with Stephen and Angel Iris Murphy Brown, 16, with ex Eddie Murphy.
