Mel B is ENGAGED to boyfriend Rory McPhee

Spice Girl Mel B is engaged to her three-year-old boyfriend Rory McPhee.

The 47-year-old singer has confirmed she will marry her beau after speculation last month that they were planning to tie the knot.

In a new interview, Scary Spice revealed that her fellow Spice Girls gave her fiancé the seal of approval and even cried at the good news.

Mel admitted she really cares about her bandmates’ opinion of her other half and in the past “they’ve never liked any of my boyfriends.”

She said Hello!: ‘Emma [Bunton] cried, just like Mel C. They were all very happy for us and said, “We love Rory, he’s amazing” and they all sent congratulations.

“I care about their opinions and it’s very special to me that they like Rory so much because they’ve never loved my boyfriends and they’ve been very clear about that.

“They actually pushed me in the direction of Rory for ages before the two of us got romantic, but I’d say to them, ‘It’s not like that; he’s just a really good friend who makes me feel safe’.

Rory posed the question to Mel wearing a £100k diamond ring at the luxury country hotel Cliveden House in Berkshire.

According to The sunMel B was ‘overwhelmed’ when Leeds-born hairdresser Rory got down on one knee and burst into tears with joy.

The publication reports that he then put out a £100,000 ring consisting of a pear shaped champagne colored diamond set on a rose gold band.

An insider told the outlet that Mel immediately said ‘yes’, adding: “But it was incredibly emotional because after everything she’s been through, it was a really big moment for her.”

Another A source told how Mel is ‘so happy’ with the engagement, adding: ‘It took a huge amount for a man to get her to trust him and believe in love again.

“He’s the absolute opposite of so many of the guys she’s dated,” explains how he showed her that men “can be caring, trustworthy, and trustworthy.

“He really took the time to understand what she’s been through. He’s madly in love with her.’

The insider described Mel’s fiancé as “normal, down-to-earth guy, with good morals” and insisted he’s not interested in fame.

They also revealed that the couple have known each other for many years with both of them from Leeds and Rory being best friends with Mel’s cousin, Christian Cooke.

The publication reports that Mel’s eldest daughter Phoenix, 23, was the first person she told about the engagement, with her wider friends and family being “over the moon”, while all of the singer’s fellow Spice Girls have already met” and like’ her future husband.

Melanie Brown’s representatives declined to comment when MailOnline contacted them.

The couple has been dating since 2018 when they met through friends in LA, including famed makeup artist Renee Camilleri.

However, the following year, their relationship turned more serious when Mel returned to the UK for the Spice Girls reunion tour.

Mel shares eldest daughter Pheonix with Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar. Mel met Jimmy in 1998 when he was hired as a dancer for a Spice Girls world tour.

They became engaged in May 1998, she became pregnant a month later and they married in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire that same year in September. Their divorce was finalized in 2000.

Scary Spice Mel is also mother to middle daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown, 15, of whom she co-parents with Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy.

The former couple broke up in December 2006 and Mel gave birth to Angel in April 2007. On June 22, 2007, a court-ordered DNA test confirmed that Eddie Murphy was the child’s father.

Spice Girl Mel B also shares her youngest daughter Madison Brown Belafonte, 11, with her second husband Stephen Belafonte.

Spice Girl Mel divorced Stephen in 2017, claiming he emotionally and physically abused her during their 10-year marriage – something he has always vehemently denied.

In January, Mel was awarded an MBE for her work at Women’s Aid, a domestic violence charity, helping other people who suffered from abusive relationships.

The Spice Girl was named in the New Year Honors for her services to charities and vulnerable women, and she stated, ‘This, for me, was all about them’.
