Megyn Kelly wakes up ESPN hosts for ranting about overturning Roe v. Wade while saying NOTHING about trans athletes crushing their competition
- Conservative pundit Kelly, 52, slammed ESPN’s NBA Today host Malika Andrews for ‘holding back tears’ over Roe v Wade but being ‘silent’ on the issue of trans athletes
- Her comments came in conversation with former ESPN SportsCenter host Sage Steele, 50, on The Megyn Kelly Show
- It comes after trans woman Anne Andres, 40, set a new record on Sunday at the Canadian Powerlifting Union’s 2023 Western Canadian Championship
Conservative podcaster and pundit Megyn Kelly has criticized “awakened” ESPN hosts for spending long screen time overturning Roe v Wade while “silent” about trans women crushing their competition.
Speaking on her eponymous show with former ESPN sports broadcaster Sage Steele, Kelly slammed the network’s current hosts for breaking down in tears when they spoke about the abortion rights decision but not commenting on issues related to their own beat.
“My daughter is 12. If she shows up for a football game and there’s a boy on the other team, we’re gone,” the 52-year-old presenter said on The Megyn Kelly Show.
“There’s no way I’m letting her play — I don’t care who I offend. There is no way. And I advise parents to do the same, because your child could get really hurt.”
Kelly’s producers played a clip of ESPN sportscasters Elle Duncan and Malika Andrews talking about the Roe v Wade overturn.

Steele, 50, agreed with Kelly, saying she felt compelled to speak out about trans competitors in women’s sports after trans athlete Lia Thomas (pictured) won the women’s 500-yard freestyle swimming event last year
Anne Andres, a 40-year-old trans woman, set the all-time record at the Canadian Powerlifting Union’s 2023 Western Canadian Championship Sunday — she lifted a total of 200 pounds more than the second-place competitor
Referring to Andrews, Kelly infuriates, “Oh my God, she’s holding back her tears.
“Where’s her tearful diatribe for my daughter — and the daughters of America right now who get hurt playing against biological boys?”
Steele, 50, agreed, saying she felt compelled to speak out about trans competitors in women’s sports after trans athlete Lia Thomas won the women’s 500m freestyle swimming event last year.
The former co-host of the 12pm (ET) SportsCenter program on ESPN said she had to “choose her battles” while working for the show because she knew “there are certain things we’re not going to report.”
“This isn’t even controversial,” she said. This is stupid that it’s even a topic with transbiological men trying to play sports with women… it’s a bunch of bullshit.”
Speaking of ESPN’s current female sports channels, she angrily said, “The fact that they’re all silent disgusts me, because of how vocal they were about, say, the overthrow of Roe v Wade and women’s rights.”
“I feel obligated, with my platform, whatever that looks like right now, as a sportscaster for 28 years, to speak openly about this and stop ignoring it,” Steele added.
“This is an issue that I think if we came together as women, just sports channels – women – this would go away.

“We’re giving away our power, and as far as I’m concerned, we’re going to regret this. We choose the wrong time to remain silent.”
The Megyn Kelly Show also featured images of 40-year-old trans woman Anne Andres, setting the all-time record at the Canadian Powerlifting Union’s 2023 Western Canadian Championship on Sunday.
Together Andres lifted 200 kilos more than the competitor in second place.
The weight lifted by Andres totaled 597.5 kilograms in the squat, bench and deadlift disciplines – 200 kilograms more than her closest opponent, SuJan Gill.
