Megyn Kelly says Taylor made the 'wrong move' at the Golden Globes after Jo Koy's NFL joke with her stony face looking like 'how dare you question me'

Megyn Kelly slammed Taylor Swift's reaction on camera after she became the target of a joke during the opening monologue of the Golden Globes on Sunday night.

Swift looked clearly unimpressed after becoming the butt of one of Jo Koy's jokes, but Kelly said on her Monday show that the pop icon made the “wrong move” by not going along with the joke to be a “good sport” to be.

The 34-year-old singer, whose concert film The Eras tour film was nominated in the new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category but lost to Barbie, enjoyed a glass of champagne before Koy, 52, joked about her romance with Travis Kelce, 34.

The joke was: 'Welcome back. As you know, we came into the field after a doubles football match.

'The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL – less camera footage of Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes.'

Taylor Swift looked decidedly unimpressed after she became the butt of one of Golden Globes host Koy's jokes on Sunday night

He said: 'As you know we came into the field after a doubles football match. 'The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL – less camera footage of Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes'

The camera then cut to a shot of a stoic Swift sipping her drink while failing to crack a smile.

'I actually thought he was right with the comment. She didn't appreciate it… Can't she just show that she's a good sport? I think she made the wrong move,” Kelly said.

'It was a gentle wipe. By the way, she's not in charge of the number of times the NFL chooses to put her on cam. That's not her fault. It's annoying. And if she was smart, she would laugh as if she were in on the joke.”

Kelly's guest, DailyMail.com columnist Maureen Callahan agreed with the host.

'I thought it was funny. Come on, you're at the Golden Globes. You're in a category because you actually made over $150 million at the box office – no small feat post-COVID. This is what bothers people. This room full of multi-millionaires, the most privileged, who can't take a swipe?' Callahan commented.

Taylor Swift chose to 'bite her tongue' after Golden Globes host Jo Koy made a 'tacky joke' about her relationship with Travis Kelce

Swift appeared to be seething as she quietly sipped her drink during the monologue

'It was a gentle wipe. By the way, she's not in charge of the number of times the NFL chooses to put her on cam. That's not her fault. It's annoying. And if she was smart, she would laugh like she was in on the joke,” Kelly added.

Callahan agreed that Taylor responded poorly overall.

“You have to show a sense of humor and humility about yourself. Taylor Swift is not above being a little fly swatter here and there. She has dominated the culture for the past year…maybe that's the problem,” she said.

But Kelly still wasn't done and continued to dock Swift.

“If I had been her advisor, I would have said, 'You need to laugh and maybe even like a face plant.' Like, “Oh, I'm embarrassed because it's a show. I didn't really want to, but I'm dating an NFL football player just so you know you understand, it's been a bit much.” That was like, 'How dare you question me and my popularity.'”

Kelly argued that Swift made the “wrong move” by not playing along with the joke

Taylor has become a fixture at Beau Travis matches

Koy's joke sparked reactions from fans who wrote: 'Cause of death for Jo Koy: that look Taylor Swift gave him while sipping her drink.'

Another wrote: “Does the fool who hosts the Golden Globes and just made a joke about Taylor Swift realize that millions of viewers had to google who the hell Jo Koy is!???”

Others wrote: 'Oh Joe… don't come for Ms. Swift! *takes sip*.'

'Agree. Awkward laughter. And using Taylor Swift in a joke that stopped being funny months ago was a cheap shot.

'That joke just didn't make sense and wasn't funny. Why bring up the NFL just to talk about Taylor Swift?

Another supported Koy, saying, “Taylor can't take a joke? He didn't even put her down. It was a dissension with the NFL because of the way they monitored her. It was funny and innocent.'
