Megyn Kelly echoed Republican fears for Donald Trump’s safety as he continues his dominance in the Republican presidential candidate race, claiming he has become so “demonized” that someone could try to harm or even kill him.
The former Fox News anchor and podcast host, 52, said she is increasingly concerned that the “left” might try to “do something about (Trump)” or “do something about our country” to prevent him from White House retakes.
“He has been so demonized that I worry for his safety,” she noted, delivering a stunning speech the same week. Washington Post poll showed Trump beating President Biden in a hypothetical – but increasingly likely – election contest by 10 points.
She predicted that Trump’s ability to “drive so many on the left crazy” could lead to coordinated chaos in the streets if he continues his attack, claiming it will “result in some kind of severe collapse of our country.”
Donald Trump has dominated the race for the Republican Party nomination in recent months, with a stunning poll this week showing him 10 points ahead of President Biden in a hypothetical general election.
Kelly commented on the state of affairs surrounding the presidential elections in her September 22 edition The Megyn Kelly Show podcastwhere she was joined by conservative commentator Dan Bongino.
Despite her public confrontations with the former president, Kelly said she is “concerned” about Trump, while arguing that President Biden is not facing the same scrutiny.
“On the other hand, you have ‘President Basement’ Joe Biden, who barely lets himself out, and when he’s there to greet the caskets coming home from Afghanistan, he looks at his watch,” she said.
“But they want us to believe that this guy, Uncle Joe, is the empathetic one, that he’s the sweet one, that he’s the kind one, that he’s the fatherly one, and that Trump is the devil.
“And Trump is raunchy, he’s a fighter, and he’s controversial, but he’s also a man. He’s human, he has a heart, he has a family.’
Kelly’s defense of Trump comes after several hostile interactions with the former president, the most famous of which was her confrontation with the then-candidate during the 2016 Republican presidential debates over allegedly sexist comments.

She speculated that the “left” might try to take Trump out of the race before he has a chance to win back the presidency, including causing Antifa-style chaos in the streets.
“It all brings me to this,” she began.
“Whether Trump is concerned, whether there is a realistic possibility that the left will collapse so much as his power increases, as he heads for a second term, that they will try to do something to him, God forbid, or whether they try to do something to him. our country.
“You know the riots we’ve seen around BLM, the total overreaction we’ve seen to basically everything around Trump, and certainly the way they’re describing January 6 as the new September 11.
“All of these things are going to culminate in some kind of serious collapse of our country… He’s really driving so many people on the left crazy.”
Many have noted Trump’s toned-down campaigning throughout the year compared to his previous attempts at the White House, where he has opted for smaller, cost-effective appearances during his famous stadium rallies.
But Kelly said these decisions are due to his huge lead in the Republican race, saying he is “turning toward the general” and turning his attention away from the yet-to-be-contested primaries.
“He kind of walks past everyone else in the field, he doesn’t argue… He turns to the general and he looks good there too,” she said.
According to FiveThirtyEight’s polling aggregatorCurrently, Trump leads his nearest rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, nationally by 55.1 percent to 13.9 percent. Despite some promising early results, all other candidates are languishing in single digits in the national polls.
Kelly’s speculation about a possible assassination of Trump joins a growing chorus of conservative voices making similar accusations, most notably Tucker Carlson who asked Trump directly about his possible assassination last month.
“It started with protests against you, and then it went to impeachment twice, and now to indictment. Are you afraid they’re going to try to kill you?’ Carlson asked.
“They are wild animals,” Trump replied. “These are people who are sick.”
