Megyn Kelly has shared her desperation over the anticipated arrest of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
In the latest episode of her podcast, Kelly expressed concern about Trump’s impeachment and the potential “impact” on the country.
Kelly said if Trump committed a crime he deserved to face the consequences, but she believes a double standard is at work when Trump’s actions are compared to those of other politicians, including Hillary Clinton and the son of President Joe Biden, Hunter.
“I think it’s terrible…I think it helps Trump politically…but it’s terrible for the country. And it will be terrible for him to continue. And it’s going to be awful for us to go through,” Kelly said on Monday’s podcast.
Kelly spoke of her frustration at the “lack of consequences” for Clinton and Hunter Biden’s perceived behavior — though she didn’t spell out exactly what kind of behavior she meant.

Kelly also suggested how Clinton “got away with so much” and spent years “using lawyers to do her dirty work.”
She also wondered why Hunter Biden had not been arrested despite numerous allegations of wrongdoing and why it has taken so long to investigate his alleged criminal activities.
Kelly said she finds such double standards frustrating but will not continue to defend Trump if he has committed crimes.
She further emphasized the importance of treating subpoenas with respect and acknowledged that Trump’s alleged behavior regarding classified documents was unacceptable.
“I’m not defending. If he got a subpoena and he had documents, that’s not OK. As a lawyer, you don’t have to convince me. You’re supposed to treat subpoenas very respectfully… It’s just so aggravating because they [Hillary Clinton] got away with so much,” Kelly scolded.

Kelly clarified that if Trump has committed a crime, he should be punished, but believes there is hypocrisy compared to alleged behavior by Clinton and Hunter
“We just went through the whole case where she used her attorney to go to the FBI and try to target them at Donald Trump and say he used a Russian bank to cover up his nefarious dealings.
“She’s always used lawyers to do her dirty work, and we’ve generally not been in the habit of criminalizing the conduct of anyone in her position. Yes, we’ve poked around the lawyers from time to time, but this is everything about him that’s different,” Kelly scolded.
Trump headed to New York on Monday to prepare for his arraignment on Tuesday in connection with hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, in which he allegedly paid her $130,000 to keep quiet about their alleged affair.
Kelly said the indictment is “horrible for the country” and that the experience will be terrible for Trump as well as for the nation as a whole.
However, she also acknowledged that the indictment may actually help Trump politically when it comes to a third White House nomination in 2024.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has been investigating the alleged hush money scandal for years, which included payments of $130,000 to Daniels and $150,000 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal.
However, federal prosecutors did not indict Trump in 2019, despite Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, implicating him as part of a plea deal.
The Federal Election Commission also dropped their investigation into the matter in 2021, but this current indictment began after Bragg’s office revived the case.
Meanwhile, Trump has responded to the indictment by criticizing Bragg for his “obsession” with trying to “get his hands on Trump,” while also warning that indicting a former United States president will have a “backfire effect” on President Biden.
Trump will be booked, fingerprinted and will have a mugshot taken at a Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday before appearing before a judge as the first ever US president to face criminal charges.
In predicting his indictment, Trump called for protests and warned that it could lead to “potential death and destruction” for the country.
