Megyn Kelly lashes out at Joe Biden inviting his son to a state dinner

Megyn Kelly slammed President Joe Biden for inviting his son Hunter to a state dinner at the White House and slammed Ana Navarro’s “ridiculous” defense of the relationship between Joe and Hunter, co-host of “The View.”

Kelly was joined Tuesday by the hosts of the Ruthless podcast — Comfortably Smug, Josh Holmes, Michael Duncan and John Ashbrook — to discuss the backlash that followed Hunter’s attendance at the state dinner and Navarro’s “embarrassing” defense.

The former Fox News host played a clip of Navarro defending Joe Biden from Friday’s episode of “The View,” in which she alleged that the president “invited his criminal child”just shows his love for his son.”

In response to Navarro’s comments, Kelly said, “YYou can love your child and still recognize that, given the circumstances, it would be inappropriate to take him to something that isn’t your private party.”

“It’s not your private party, Joe Biden,” Kelly repeated emphatically. ‘It’s our party. It’s the United States. It’s America, and Hunter Biden shouldn’t have been there!”

The event in question was last week’s state dinner at the White House for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Duncan mockingly said that Joe Biden bringing Hunter to the state dinner would be like Bill Clinton bringing Monica Lewinsky, to which Kelly and the “Ruthless” crew chuckled.

On a more serious note, Duncan added, “This isn’t about hypocrisy… it’s hierarchy… They’re laughing in our faces.”

“This is a man accused of influencing abroad and taking money from China, taking money from this corrupt Ukrainian gas company…” he added.

“And he appears at official events with foreign dignitaries before us – they laugh at us.”

Holmes agreed, also pointing out the satirical element of inviting a man to dinner at the White House who is addicted to crack cocaine, involved with prostitutes and has now pleaded guilty to tax-related misdemeanor because he is a relative.

‘ssitting on Ukrainian natural gas companies, smoking crack with prostitutes and throwing guns in school zones… Are you kidding?’ said Holmes.

“You can’t say at the same time that this son of mine is in deep trouble and has everything in his life. It’s unfortunate and, you know, unfortunately that’s his problem,” he added.

“… then have him show up in Beijing… show up on Ukrainian boards during your vice presidency, and then when you become president, he’ll be the beauty of the ball at every state dinner!”

The ‘Ruthless’ co-host added that not all drug addicts start selling influence to the Chinese.

Just days after agreeing to plead guilty to tax-related misconduct, Hunter Biden attended a White House state dinner hosted for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday night.

The president’s son was one of hundreds of high-profile guests who attended that dinner for India’s prime minister on Thursday night.

Criticism and support for the Bidens followed.

In a clip shown on The View Friday, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly refused to answer questions from reporters about Hunter’s presence at the state dinner.

Navarro got emotional after the clip when she talked about the president’s relationship with his troubled son.

“The Hunter Biden story, the scandal, this, the that — it’s also the story of a father’s love, and Joe Biden has never given up on his son, Hunter, and will never give up on him, and will never treat him less than.” said Navarro. .

‘He’s a father first and foremost; take it or leave it. That’s who he is, that’s part of his heart,’ she continued. “There were 380 people at this dinner. It’s not like Hunter sat on Merrick Garland’s lap. It was a group of people… and I think the reason he got over his addiction is because Joe Biden was completely hugging him the whole time.”

Sunny Hostin also defended the father and son duo, adding, “What seems to be lost in all this discussion about Hunter Biden is his addiction. He’s addicted. He has been addicted to various things for many years, and I wonder where our sympathy is.

“I mean, people are talking about ‘Well, this is favoritism,’ and maybe it is, and I hate favoritism. I think things should be earned and not given, but no one wants to talk about being Ivanka [Trump] got, you know, three Chinese patents after her dinner with President Xi of China at Mar-a-Lago,” she claimed.

She added that the scandal is actually “a father trying to keep his son, who suffers from addiction, close.”

Co-host Sara Haines said she didn’t blame the Bidens for inviting their son, but said Hunter “should have sat this one out.”

“What I don’t agree with is that he should have been sitting this out, if we’re being honest… he just got charged with a misdemeanor misdemeanor, you’re going to a dinner where your dad is the center of attention, he’s trying to campaign feed… like, sit down. Just sit at home for a minute. Have a seat. This is about your father and your family,’ she said.

Alyssa Farah Griffin added, “If I were charged with a felony and misdemeanor, I wouldn’t be at a state dinner with the most powerful people on the planet.

“So I think the optics were bad, and I guarantee you Biden’s staffers tried to persuade him not to be there, and Merrick Garland, who has been trying to stay above the fray in this, and is now hobbling with them .’

Last week, the president’s son agreed to plead guilty to federal felony charges and a weapons charge for which he faces no jail time.

When questioned about Hunter’s presence at the dinner, Jean-Pierre said, “I just don’t get into discussions, personal family discussions.”

On Thursday, he mingled with black-tie guests at a state banquet for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jean-Pierre was asked if it was common practice for people to be invited to the White House so soon after a plea deal was made.

‘That’s his son. He’s a relative,’ she said.

It is not uncommon for family members to attend White House events.

“We could look at past presidents. I’m sure you did.

“So that’s not uncommon… since it pertains to all things Hunter, I’m just not going to comment on it from here.”
