Megyn Kelly Defends Casey DeSantis After Critics Called Her ‘America’s Karen’

Megyn Kelly has defended Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey after she was dubbed “America’s Karen” and compared to Serena Waterford from The Handmaid Tales.

The 52-year-old broadcaster discussed how Casey was duped for her looks and her involvement in Florida governor’s presidential campaign — which Kelly said was because Casey’s Democratic opponents “viewed her as a threat.”

Kelly showed a new campaign video from DeSantis camp on The Megyn Kelly Show, in which Casey spoke about the importance of protecting children.

She then showed a clip of Florida Rep. David Jolly calling Casey “America’s Karen” in a segment on MSNBC.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s presented in heels or boots, the DeSantis Doctrine is a losing one,” said Jolly, a former Republican. Another guest on the MSNBC show described Florida’s First Lady as a Serena Waterford wannabe at the time.

Kelly said in commentary with Dave Marcus and Stu Burguiere, “I think the reason they react so angrily to her is that they accurately view her as a threat.”

This comes just weeks after a profile of Casey caused backlash when the piece compared her to Lady Macbeth and accused her of personally choosing to fire a key employee as DeSantis prepared to run for president in 2024.

Politico’s piece, titled “The Casey DeSantis Problem: ‘His Greatest Asset and His Greatest Liability’,” sparks the ire of many who argue that the mainstream media would never treat a Democratic politician’s wife so harshly.

The Michael Kruse article was inspired by none other than former Trump adviser Roger Stone who once posted on Telegram, “Have you ever noticed…how much Ron DeSantis’s wife Casey resembles Lady Macbeth?”

The piece claimed that DeSantis’ wife is “unusually important and unusually involved” in his political work, as is his “key adviser.”

The story even goes so far as to explain and quote the plot of Shakespeare’s classic tale.

It then accuses her of being a problem for Florida’s popular governor, who was reelected by 20 points last fall, by restricting his inner circle “not just because he doesn’t trust people constitutionally, but because she doesn’t either.” .
