Megyn Kelly claims Donald Trump has ‘lost multiple steps’ mentally but she’ll still ‘take him over Joe Biden any day of the week’

Megyn Kelly said Thursday that 77-year-old Donald Trump is noticeably less sharp than he was in 2016 — but said she still felt he was “fitter and more capable” than Joe Biden.

Kelly, who co-hosted the Republican primary debate on Wednesday night, appeared on fellow conservative Glenn Beck's podcast to discuss the race.

She said Trump has “lost several steps” mentally, noting that he had repeatedly said Barack Obama was president and warned that current policy mistakes could create a “World War II.”

Beck asked her if she thought Trump has “faded from where he was in 2020.”

Kelly replied, “Yes, I do. I mean, I'd take him over Joe Biden any day of the week. I don't think he's going to complete this term, let alone a second.

“But there is no doubt that Trump has lost a step or several steps.”

Biden, 81, has struggled to convince the electorate that his age was not an issue: He has repeatedly said he should be judged on his performance, but polls show his advanced years are unsettling voters across the board.

Kelly said Trump also did not show his age.

“He's confusing Joe Biden with Obama,” she said.

Trump has claimed he “sarcastically” used Obama's name instead of Biden's, saying it was meant “as an indication that others may have a very significant influence in running our country.”

But Kelly said she didn't believe his explanation.

“I know he's saying now that he did that deliberately; go back and watch the clips. It wasn't intentional.

“Look, any of us can have a slip of the tongue, but it happens to him repeatedly. The reference about how someone is going to get us into World War II, confusing countries, confusing cities where he is, and it's happening more and more.”

Kelly said the decline in mental agility was not surprising.

“With all due respect to Trump, this is what happens when you're 77 years old,” she said.

'Trump seems inhuman, but he is not inhuman. He's human. He is a man.

“DeSantis' statement about Father Time spares no one was right.”

She concluded by saying she would still choose Trump over Biden, despite Trump's delay.

“So look, if it's between Trump and Biden, I don't think there's any question as to who is fitter and more capable,” she said.

“But are we really going to pretend that Donald Trump is as vibrant and mentally sharp as he was in '16?”
