Meghan’s spiritual ‘guru’ has provided fascinating insight into the couple’s state of mind as the Duke of Sussex prepares to leave his wife and their two children to attend King Charles’s coronation.

Deepak Chopra, 76, an Indian-American alternative medicine practitioner with 2.8 million devoted followers on Instagram, told Richard Eden that the California-based couple are “struggling” amid their split from the royal family.

Speaking at a red carpet event in central London, he said, “I’ve enjoyed the podcast and interacted with them. ‘It [our work together] has been periodic – they are struggling now.”

He added: “I hope they come through it lightly. I think there’s too much drama around it – people should mind their own business.’

Chopra appeared on the Duke and Duchess’ first podcast for audio giant Spotify. However, the best-selling author, who has written more than 90 books, has advised them not to publicly address their differences with the royal family to avoid further backlash.

“My advice is to ignore it because if you react you will only make the situation worse,” he said. “If you ignore it, people can’t say anything, then they stop.”

Chopra was one of Meghan’s inner circle who celebrated her 40th birthday in 2021 by participating in her 40×40 Compassion In Action initiative, which helped women get back to work after the pandemic.

“To celebrate the 40th birthday of my friend Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, I’m gifting 40 minutes of mentorship to a woman returning to work,” he said at the time.

Chopra, whose famous admirers include talk show host Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow, is known for his meditation and yoga guidance. “I spend two hours each morning doing yoga and meditation and then one more before I go to sleep,” he said. “I don’t take myself too seriously, and neither do my wife and children.”
