Meghan wears a £595 linen suit and suede pumps to attend basketball game with Prince Harry

The Duchess of Sussex took sports fanaticism to a new level at a basketball game in LA she attended with her husband when she stepped out in a stylish brand that markets itself as ideal for the “occasional mushroom trip.”

Meghan, 41, watched the LA Lakers with Prince Harry, 38, who revealed in his memoir Spare earlier this year that he hallucinated that a trash can spoke to him after ingesting magic mushrooms.

The Duchess sparkled in STAUD’s pink Maxwell linen two-piece, which costs £360 for the blazer and £235 for the shorts.

While celebrating the Lakers beating the Memphis Grizzlies 117 to 111 in the Crypto.com arena with the Duke and her Archewell staff, the Duchess pulled the jacket over a white top and beige suede pumps.

The heels turned out to be from the AQUAZZURA Purist collection.

In Prince Harry’s explosive memoir, published in January, he claimed to have had a bad trip with magic mushrooms while partying with friends.

The prince said they saw a box of mushroom chocolates in a refrigerator and decided to eat them before washing them down with tequila.

However, the trip did not go as intended, with the Duke having a terrifying experience with a bin in the bathroom.

He wrote: ‘Next to the toilet was a round silver basin, the kind with a foot pedal to open the lid. I stared at the bin. It stared back. Then it became… a head.

“I stepped on the pedal and the head opened its mouth. A huge open grin.

‘I laughed, turned around, took a ***. Now the toilet also became a head. The bowl was his gaping mouth, the hinges of the seat were his piercing silver eyes. It said, “Aaah.”‘

Stepping out in STAUD’s chic linen suit last night, Meghan spoke of a brand that described its loose cuts and light material as “a feminine look that’s both seductive and self-regulating.”

The website describes the design as suitable for “the occasional mushroom trip or trip to the beach (or both).”

Founded in 2015 by Sarah Staudinger and George Augusto, the LA-based brand markets itself as a fashion house that builds basic garments according to “science,” but adds that it does when science is “based on emotion rather than formulas.” .

The brand’s founding story, posted on its website, claims that STAUD is designed to “empower women,” but is also meant to be “accessible.”

As Meghan and Harry got ready for the kisscam zooming in on them, Meghan’s bright, summery suit stood out from the throng of sports fans in jeans and dark colors.

The Duchess wore the blazer open, with the sleeves turned up and adorned with gold bracelets on her wrists.

As the kiss cam focused on the Sussexes, the pair smiled and waved.

Thousands began clapping and cheering, encouraging them to kiss. Harry then appeared to lean in for a hug, but his wife laughed and grabbed his arm instead of bowing to the crowd. Harry then made a comical grimace.

But despite the light-hearted disapproval, Meghan and Harry enjoyed a hug as the Lakers won the game 117 to 111 to take a 3-1 lead in the first round of the playoffs against the Grizzlies.

Sitting with them was Rick Genow, an LA power lawyer and adviser to the couple since they retired as working royals and moved to the US.

Footage of them enjoying the game was also posted on the NBA’s official Twitter feed using the hashtag #NBACelebRow.

It was the couple’s first appearance together since it was announced that Prince Harry will attend the king’s coronation in London next month, but Meghan will remain in the US.

It came hours after a beaming Meghan first took cover when the coronation news was announced.

The Duchess of Sussex, who introduced her photographer friend Misan Harriman in a video ahead of his Ted Talk, said she was “thrilled” to welcome him on stage, where the audience heard him speak about experience capturing the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.

Meghan and Harry are very close to Mr Harriman and his wife Camilla Holmstroem, and the royal couple asked him to photograph them ahead of their second pregnancy announcement, in a black and white shot of them lying barefoot together under the trees in their California garden.

Mr Harriman, who worked in finance before becoming a photographer in 2016, was also asked to photograph Lilibet’s first birthday party at Frogmore Cottage during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last June.

In the video introduction, Meghan said, “Our next speaker has an unparalleled eye for a good photo. I have experienced his talent firsthand as he has captured many important milestones for me and my family.”

Referring to his activism and his work in documenting the Black Lives Matter protests, she said: “His lens captured everything from events that changed the world, moments we all desperately needed to see, along with some of the most recognizable faces on the planet.

“But this wasn’t always his path, and you might be surprised to learn not to whom, but to what he attributes his success.”
