Meghan Markle’s ‘$1m a post Instagram payday’: Duchess of Sussex ‘is preparing to re-launch herself on social media’ and experts say she could earn millions – with ‘everyone in Hollywood talking about it’

Meghan is reportedly preparing for an Instagram “relaunch” and experts predict she could earn a million dollars per post.

The Duchess, whose last account with husband Prince Harry, @sussexroyal, had 9.4 million followers before being deactivated in 2020 when the couple retired as senior Royals, is said to be behind a new account called @meghan.

Adorned with an image of pink peonies, reportedly Meghan’s favorite flowers, a source close to her team confirmed this week: “Yes, she is. Expect an announcement very soon. She’s coming back.’

The story is already being followed by several of Meghan’s friends, including activist Mandana Dayani, who was president of Archewell, the Sussexes’ media and philanthropic company, until last December.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: “Everyone in Hollywood is talking about the relaunch being imminent. Meghan has never made it a secret that she wants to return to Instagram.”

Prior to her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, Suits actress Meghan’s personal Instagram following number exceeded three million, while tens of thousands of fans signed up for her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig.

Meghan first revealed she was planning to return to Instagram in an interview with The Cut last year, in which she told writer Allison P. Davis, “Want a secret? I’ll be back on Instagram.’

The Duchess’s “new” account already has 76,000 followers and experts say it could be a huge boost to her finances.

Eric Schiffer, a social media expert who advises the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars, ex-Disney actress Bella Thorne and cast members of the American version of Dragons’ Den, said: “I don’t think the return of Meghan to Instagram will surprise everyone.

“She has a new talent manager and this is the next logical step.

“I expect she will quickly become one of the most followed accounts on Instagram. You have celebrities like the Kardashians who can earn $1 million (£790,000) or more from a single post promoting a product.

There’s no reason why Meghan couldn’t earn this kind of compensation.

“As the Duchess, she must be careful not to be seen as marketing every product under the sun. She will join quality brands and companies aligned with her political and social beliefs.”

Social media marketing experts think the new account could quickly make Meghan one of the highest-paid influencers in the world

Marketing expert Kent Moore, who runs OneEyedSocial and has collaborated with actors like Star Trek’s Sir Patrick Stewart, said: “I think she’d instantly land in the top ten highest-paid influencers in the world.

“Her status is unique because she is a celebrity, actress and royalty.

Meghan could charge a million dollars per mail as a bare minimum.

That amount would quickly rise as her partnerships gained global coverage and traction.

“Brands could collaborate with her for campaigns in a few years, with different posts and even personal appearances.

“These kinds of deals can go well above $12 million (£9.5 million) and as much as $20 million (£15.9 million).”

Meghan has repeatedly displayed her influencer power with outfits and bags she sold out.

NuCalm, which sells an anti-stress patch, has seen a spike in sales since the Duchess was photographed wearing a patch on her wrist while running errands near her home in Montecito, California.
