Meghan Markle wears beaded friendship bracelet ‘engraved with the initials of someone who couldn’t attend’ the Invictus Games to her first event in Germany
She has a dazzling jewelery collection that most people would envy – complete with her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s £17,800 gold Cartier Tank watch and a £271,000 engagement ring.
But last night, Meghan Markle, 42, revealed a more touching, simpler piece when she wore a beaded friendship bracelet with the initials of someone who was unable to attend the Invictus Games in Germany.
Delivering an emotional speech to 1,600 competitors, friends and family at a glittering party at the Dusseldorf hotel, the mother-of-two said she had received a number of presents.
Wearing a beaded bracelet she had been given, she held up her arm to loud cheers and said the initials of someone who couldn’t make the game were etched onto it.
‘So many people at home are rooting for you. Thank you and looking forward to a fantastic week. I can’t wait until we take our kids one day so they can experience how amazing it is,” said Meghan.

Meghan’s bracelet read “I am Invictus,” a nod to the motto of the competition for injured and disabled military veterans.
The piece was apparently a gift from an athlete on the Canadian team, it was reported The mirror.
Meanwhile, the Duchess made a special mention of her children at the Invictus Games yesterday.
In her first speech at this year’s tournament, Meghan greeted everyone in attendance, before making a sweet comment about her children.
The mother-of-two told the audience: “We can’t wait to one day bring our children along so they can experience how amazing this is.”
Before that, Meghan also shared the sweet reason why she missed the opening of the day’s matches.
She told the audience that parental duties got in the way of her presence, as she had to spend time with her two young children in Los Angeles – buying them milkshakes and taking the eldest to school before heading to Germany.
Meghan told the 1,600 guests: “I had to spend a little more time sorting out our little ones at home.”

Aides said Meghan, 42, did her own hair and makeup shortly after arriving at her five-star hotel in Dusseldorf and got ready for the event in just over an hour.
The event is organized by Dave Coker of the Fisher House Foundation, one of the main sponsors of the games.
Meghan took an evening flight from Los Angeles and flew to Dusseldorf after a brief stopover at Heathrow.
She told the audience that she visited a Fisher House in Los Angeles a few weeks ago and was “moved” by what she saw. The organization helps veterans and their families and is one of the main sponsors of the Invictus Games.
She said: “They understand, like my husband at previous Invictus Games, how much rehabilitation is important, not just as a solitary experience, but as a family.
‘I am very proud of the Invictus family that is here. “Like so many of you, you know this is about friends and family and what created the community of Invictus and created Fisher House.”
Harry took the microphone after his wife joked that he was a ‘man of few words’ tonight.
In the speech, Meghan told the 1,600 guests: “It’s so special to be here, sorry I’m a little late to the party.”
