The Duchess of Sussex will receive a Women of Vision award from feminist icon Gloria Steinem at a lavish gala next month.
Meghan Markle, 41, receives top honors at Ms. Foundation’s 2023 Women of Vision Awards: Celebrating Generations of Progress and Power on May 16 for her “global empowerment advocacy and advocacy on behalf of women and girls.”
A profile of the Duchess on the Ms. Foundation notes that she is a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equality, and global role model.”
“We are thrilled to announce this year’s awards for the Women of Vision Awards and to celebrate 50 years of progress and strength,” said Teresa C. Younger, the president and CEO of the Ms. Foundation, in one rack.
She added that Meghan, as well as the other award winners — including Black Lives Matter co-founder LaTosha Brown — are “incredible leaders, and we are grateful to be able to shine a light on their many achievements and tireless work for gender equality.” and racial equality across the country and the world.”

The Women of Vision Awards gala is designed to celebrate “the past, present and future of the Ms. Foundation and feminist movements, while raising funds for the organization’s strategic, equity-driven initiatives.”
“Each year, the foundation honors visionary leaders and trailblazing grantee partners who are committed to the mission of the Ms. Foundation to advance the collective power of women and create a safe, just and equitable future for all,” said a press release for the event.
It says Markle is being honored for her “lifelong advocacy for women and girls,” which remains “a constant thread she weaves through both humanitarian and corporate ventures.”
The Duchess’ profile on the event page also notes that Markle “served in 2014 as a UN Women’s Advocate for Women’s Political Participation and Leadership, a World Vision Global Ambassador, and a Leading Counselor of One Young World.”
In 2022, Meghan launched Archetypes, a record-breaking podcast that explores the labels trying to stop women.
The profile goes on to say that Markle is a “passionate advocate for family rights and an investor in dynamic, women-founded companies.”

May 15 also honors LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Fund and Black Voters Matter Capacity Building Institute, designed to boost black voter registration and turnout and “amplify power in marginalized, predominantly black communities.” .’
The Ms. Foundation hailed her as an “award-winning visionary thought leader, institution builder, cultural activist, and artist and connector.”
“She is a nationally recognized, go-to expert on black voting rights and voter suppression, black women’s empowerment, and philanthropy,” Brown’s profile on the website reads.

Next month’s reception will be hosted by Danielle Moodie, host of the Woke AF Daily podcast, and will feature an appearance by Sweet Honey in the Rock.
DJ Mary Mac will perform at the after party, which will also feature radio host Angela Ye from Way Up With Angela Yee and formerly The Breakfast Club.
General tickets to the gala cost a whopping $1,500, while tables can be reserved for $15,000.
