Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s sprawling nine-bedroom California mansion doubles in value

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have raised eyebrows about their lifestyle choices, but their eye for good real estate seems to be paying off.

Their sprawling nine-bedroom home, located in Montecito, has reportedly doubled in value since they purchased the home in 2020, according to Zillow.

Their massive abode is now worth more than $29 million, up from the modest $14.65 million they bought it for.

The California Association of Realtors (CAR) reported that California experienced its “largest annual increase in existing home sales since June 2021” in the same month.

According to Redfin, the number of homes sold in California rose 12.4 percent year over year through November 2024.

Hannah Jones, a senior economic research analyst for Realtor.com, told us Newsweek the average home price in California has increased 29.7 percent over the past five years.

Within that time, Montecito overtook California with a whopping 47.3 percent increase in real estate prices.

Meghan and Harry’s home, known as ‘The Chateau’, was built in 2003.

The beautiful estate is surrounded by lush green gardens and overlooking the sea, the house is described as a ‘hidden paradise’.

The house is set in 5.4 hectares of land and immaculately trimmed hedges border the estate’s stone-pillared entrance gates.

According to property listings, the home took nearly five years to build and included a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, a gym with a stripper pole, a games room, an arcade, a theater, a wine cellar and a garage for five cars.

The entrance to the property opens onto a wide avenue paved with hand-carved Santa Barbara stone that leads through a large arch of trees to the main residence, according to Zillow.

The estate has extensive lawns, tiered rose gardens, tall Italian cypresses, blooming lavender, centuries-old olive trees, a tennis court, a tea house, a children’s house and a swimming pool.

It also features a guest house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Despite the beautiful backdrop, the Duchess did not film her upcoming Netflix series at the home she shares with her husband and two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

Tom and Sherrie Cipolla, fixtures in the high society circles of the American Riviera, are both in their seventies. They are prominent philanthropists with a $20 million real estate portfolio, including a physical therapy practice with annual revenues of more than $1.3 million.

Their 4,500-square-foot home, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, has beautiful French doors that open to a patio, lawn and breathtaking mountain views.

Based on the trailer posted to her new Instagram account earlier this week, this is the stage for Meghan to showcase her cooking and housekeeping skills, along with a slew of famous celebrity friends.
