Megan Thee Stallion has been criticized for bringing up ‘Megan’s Law’ in her new diss track, which sparked her recent feud with Nicki Minaj.
Richard Kanka, who supported the sex offender notification law named after his late daughter Megan Kanka, who was murdered in 1994, called the text “disrespectful.” TMZ.
In her new song “Hiss,” the 28-year-old rapper appears to take aim at Minaj’s 41-year-old husband, Kenneth Petty, 45, a registered sex offender in New York.
“These motherfuckers aren’t mad at Megan,” she rapped, referring to herself, before adding, “These motherfuckers are mad at Megan’s Law.”
While many defended the lyrics by pointing out that it brings attention to the law, Kanka nevertheless notes that his late daughter’s name comes up in the expletive-filled song offensive and is considering legal action.

Richard Kanka, who championed the sex offender notification law named after his late daughter Megan Kanka, who was murdered in 1994, called the text “disrespectful,” according to TMZ.
Kanka told TMZ that using his daughter’s name was “deeply offensive to the pain his daughter and family felt.”
He admitted that he hasn’t heard the song yet, but has read the lyrics and doesn’t approve of it. Kanka also said that he heard the song from one of his children.
His daughter Megan was 7 years old when she was raped and murdered in July 1994. It was the Kankas’ neighbor and convicted sex offender Jesse Timmendequas who committed the crimes. His two roommates were also convicted sex offenders.
Richard and his wife Maureen, who were unaware that three sex offenders were living across the street from them, helped the Megan’s Law campaigner take action in 1996.
Megan’s Law requires the “public disclosure of information about registered sex offenders when necessary to protect the public.”
The information is provided so that community members can better protect themselves and their children.
Megan’s lyrics were seen by Nicki’s fans as a diss towards her husband, who is a registered sex offender. He was convicted in 1994 of the attempted rape of a 16-year-old. He spent four years in prison.
He was sentenced to three years of probation and one year of home confinement in July 2022 after failing to register as a sex offender in California.
The lyrics may also be aimed at Nicki’s brother, Jelani Maraj, who was convicted of predatory sexual assault in 2017 for the rape of his 11-year-old stepdaughter.

In retaliation, Nicki took to Instagram Live and demanded that Megan “bring out her mom and apologize.” Megan’s mother, Holly Thomas, died in March 2019 from brain cancer.
Minaj also responded to the perceived slight this weekend with her own diss track, titled Big Foot – a song chock full of controversy, including a reference to Megan’s alleged cosmetic surgery.
According to a source, she is ready to attack all of Megan’s weaknesses and is ready to ‘drown’ her with further blows, having already seriously attacked her rival on her latest single.
But while Megan has yet to respond, a source close to Nicki claims this is just the start of their public feud, with the Anaconda rapper ready to ‘drown’ her fellow artist with more punches.
“I know Nicki seems wrong at the moment for going there, but she’s not apologizing and we’re only seeing what they’re showing the public,” a source told DailyMail.com exclusively. “It’s even worse behind the scenes.”
They continued, “Megan has formed an alliance with Cardi B to talk about Nicki, but Nicki has been in the game much longer than either of them.
“Nicki told Megan to sit down and respect those who paved the path for her. Megan came for Nicki’s husband and brother and in the worst way. So Nicki responded by taking it up a level.”

The source added that this is likely just the beginning of their fallout, and that Nicki is willing to take their feud even further.
They continued, “If Megan wants to let this continue, it’s going to get extremely ugly – even worse than it already is. Nicki knows her weaknesses and will play on them all. If Megan thinks Nicki’s feud with Cardi is bad, it’s a drop in the water where she’s about to drown Megan.”
Nicki doesn’t hold back in her track Big Foot, which was released on Sunday evening.
In the song she addresses Megan – real name Megan Pete – and asks: ‘Um, why did you lie about your lipo?’ before adding, “F**kin’ your best friend, man’s crazy, but you’re the type.”
Nicki, who previously collaborated with Megan on 2019’s Hot Girl Summer, also appeared to reference the time Megan was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez in July 2020.
Rapper Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023.
