Yuji Itadori may be a high school student fighting for his life in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, but now he’s caught the attention of a global star IRL. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion – official hot girl and anime lover – gives him a shout out on her new album, MEGAN. Her song, “Otaku hot girlfeatures an introduction narrated by Itadori’s English voice actor and numerous references to Jujutsu Kaisen and other anime.
Megan Thee Stallion Released MEGAN on Friday. Fans were quick to take note of the introduction to “Otaku Hot Girl,” which begins with a narrated introduction from Adam McArthur, the voice actor of Yuji Itadori in the English dub of Jiu-jitsu Kaisen in addition to sampling a melody from the anime. In the song, McArthur says in Itadori’s voice that he likes “a tall woman with a nice big butt, like Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion,” and mentions other characters from the series by name, such as Gojo Satoru.
The introduction references a viral fan moment within the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom. In the official English dubAnother character asks Itadori who his type is and he says, “A tall woman with a nice big ass. I’m gonna say, Jennifer Lawrence.” Based on this, fans popularized the idea that Itadori might also have a crush on Megan, since she might be his type and because she’s a known anime fan. In response, Adam McArthur shared an audio clip on X in 2021 where he re-recorded the phrase and replaced Jennifer Lawrence’s name with Megan Thee Stallion. The clip later became popular and widely shared on social media platforms like TikTok and the idea that Itadori might have a crush on Megan has been widely accepted by fans. And now, the song has caused a stir among fans as people have gone viral reaction videos on TikTok.
But the anime references in the song aren’t just limited to Itadori, the lyrics also mention things like Gojo’s domain expansion powers and Sasuke out Naruto. However, the singer had problems with this song. The musician said she had to re-record the song a few days before the album’s release because she was denied permission to use the characters’ names in her song. “I really hope y’all think this shit sounds good because I had to jump through 8 million hoops to get this shit,” she said in an Instagram live.
The song exudes Megan’s love for anime. Still, the artist has had to deal with fans who think she is a fake fan, despite her repeated participation in various anime fandoms. In her years as a star, she has become known for her incredible cosplays and her references to Naruto in one of her breakthrough hits, “Girls in the Hood.” Now, the song gives her an opportunity to respond to skeptics. In one line, she declares that she won’t be bothered by people with anime avatars online. She sings, “I ain’t gonna mess with a Sasuke avi/Incel mad, I’m a weeb and a bad guy.”
So if you want to rock out to anime-inspired lyrics, “Otaku Hot Girl” is now available to listeners.
