Megan Gale makes shock career announcement as the model signs multi-year deal

Megan Gale has announced she’s returning to the spotlight.

The 49-year-old Australian model has re-signed as an ambassador for David Jones, marking her triumphant return to the iconic department store.

Gale, who first signed with David Jones in 2001 and served in the role until 2013, now returns to the brand on a multi-year deal.

This came after Gale celebrated the store’s 185th anniversary in March.

β€œIt was lovely to be approached and asked back; I think it was perfect timing too,” Megan said The Herald Sun on sunday.

‘It was the perfect time when we hit pause and it gave me a really nice opportunity to take on a new role as a mother and delve into that. But it’s been 10 years since we hit pause and I always hoped that there would be room to work together in the future.

Although Gale is often associated with the term ‘supermodel’, the mother of two claims she is more of a ‘supermom’ these days.

Megan is engaged to former Richmond footballer Shaun Hampson and is trying to juggle the demands of motherhood with her return to the fashion world.

“It’s a great compliment, but I just have to laugh about it because I don’t think it applies to me,” said Gale, who downplayed her supermodel status.

“I think what I do that’s superior is the way I manage my kids’ activities and remember that I have to sign them both up for basketball because the deadline is today, and I have to take them to swimming and ballet and gymnastics, and it’s someone’s birthday so I have to run out and get a present. Call me super for that.”

The Perth-born star rose to fame in 1999 when she appeared in commercials for an Italian telecommunications company.

In 2003 she was named ‘the face of Australia in Italy’ by the Australian Tourist Commission.

Megan also appeared in several Hollywood films, including Mad Max: Fury Road and The Water Diviner.

Last year, the model announced that she was open to returning to modeling, 16 years after she retired.

Speaking with Stellar In an interview with the Australian supermodel, she said she had thoroughly enjoyed her one-off return to the catwalk in honor of David Jones’ 185th anniversary in March 2023.
