Megalopolis teaser trailer: Adam Driver stops time before falling off a skyscraper in Francis Ford Coppola’s long-awaited epic film

A new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Francis Ford Coppola-directed epic drama film Megalopolis was released on Saturday.

In the clip, Cesar Catilina, played by Adam Driver, carefully steps out of one of the top windows of a New York City skyscraper and makes his way to the edge.

The driver character then prepares to fall off the edge of the building before shouting ‘time stop’, at which point everything around him suddenly stops.

Catiline steps back onto the skyscraper and snaps his fingers, and time begins to flow again.

The driver character then begins staring at the rising sun, after which the teaser ends.

Coppola, 85, also shared the teaser on his official Instagram account and wrote a short message dedicating the release to his late wife Eleanor.

The filmmaker and his wife had been married for more than sixty years when she died last month.

He wrote: “Megalopolis has always been a film dedicated to my dear wife Eleanor. I had really hoped to celebrate her birthday together on May 4th. But unfortunately that was not to be, so let me share a gift with everyone on her behalf.”

Development of Megalopolis began decades ago and production began and was stopped repeatedly.

Coppola returned to the project in 2019, when it was revealed that he had entered into discussions with Shia LaBeouf, who eventually joined the film’s cast.

In August 2022, it was confirmed that filming would begin later that year, with production beginning that fall.

Megalopolis will focus on a super-powered architect who attempts to transform New York City into a modernist utopia.

The film will also feature the talents of an ensemble cast including Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza and Laurence Fishburne.
