Meet the woman who identifies as a dog: American social media star reveals she sleeps in a crate, is rewarded with dog treats and has ‘handlers’ who ‘walk’ her

An American woman who identifies as a dog has given insight into what her daily life is like.

The social media star, known as Meow, appeared on KIIS FM’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Thursday to discuss what it means to live as a dog.

She told presenters Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson how she sleeps in a crate, is rewarded with dog treats and has ‘handlers’ to help look after her.

Meow, who livestreams on gaming platform Twitch, explained how she identifies as a Dalmatian and will bark and run on all fours as she embraces life as a dog.

She said she sleeps in a crate instead of a bed and says resting in a small space helps her feel “safe” at night.

She said: ‘I have pastel colored blankets and pastel colored pillows in it, something about being in a confined space, I don’t know if it makes me feel safe from the world or if it makes me feel like the world is safe from me, but it certainly feels comfort!’

‘I can fit in. The rule of thumb for a dog is if he can stand in it, it’s big enough for him, as long as I’m on my hands and knees,” she added.

When asked if she identifies as a dog or just feels like she has a dog spirit, Meow clarified that she is a “dog girl” and shared that she has always loved “playing.”

She said: ‘I think the wonder that comes with playing and being enchanted by life around you is a beautiful thing. I’m not sure I ever put two and two together, that I had to stop doing that once I became an adult.

“I thought once I make my own money and pay my own rent, I can do anything I want, and I wanted to be a dog!”

Radio host and shock jock Kyle then asked her if she has a boyfriend, and she confirmed that she does not, but that she has “handlers” who take her on walks and feed her.

She clarified that she has a non-sexual relationship with her supervisors, who are her friends and have similar interests or support her lifestyle.

‘I have supervisors. Sort of like dog trainers. They feed me, they take me on walks, we exercise, which is one of my favorite things because I get treats,” she said.

When asked what treats she would get, Meow said she would be rewarded with shredded chicken, jerky cookies and sometimes even dog treats.

She said she sometimes eats dog food but also adds other foods to it, explaining, “It’s a little bland, I like to put bone broth or other additives in it.”

Meow was then asked if she paid her two or three regular “handlers,” to which she replied, “I don’t, it’s funny that I don’t have to pay anyone to spend time with me.”

The cosplayer said she feels “more human” because she is in touch with the “original, animal” side of her personality, and says she doesn’t worry about what anyone thinks of her.

She said: ‘I find myself not focusing on other people and their reactions to me because I’m so in the moment I’m just chasing the ball, because I’m the dog, I want to sit and perform for whoever what I’m concentrating on.’

Kyle asked her if she takes her dog lifestyle into the bedroom, to which she clarified, “The dog side of me is an everyday lifestyle, so I find I don’t need that in the bedroom at all.”

Meow regularly gives fans insight into her life on her Instagram account, where she goes by the username meowdalyn and has 11,300 followers.
