Meet the real life exorcist! The demonologist of Brooklyn

A former NYPD cop turned exorcist and his wife have been filmed trying to clear a New York home of an “evil spirit” that residents claimed was tormenting a child.

Chris DeFlorio and his wife Harmony raced to the Brooklyn property when they were told that a seven-year-old named Javier had endured multiple terrifying encounters at the hands of the entity.

A promo for a movie about the incident, called “It’s Coming,” makes Javier shiver: “The person has long legs… he’s black.

“I think what he wants to do to me is kill me…because it never goes away…I think I’m going to die.”

Married demonologists Chris and Harmony were sent to the Williamsburg address at the behest of filmmaker Shannon Alexander, whose film about their exorcism efforts will premiere at Hot Doc’s Toronto Film Festival on April 29.

“When Harmony and I heard there was a kid involved, we kind of ran over to it,” Chris told DailyMail.com.

Filmmaker Shannon Alexander contacted DeFlorio in August 2022 while he was filming a documentary about the family, which was originally supposed to be about sleep paralysis.

While filming, they say they began to encounter strange paranormal activity – voices were heard, and a large black silhouettes walking around the house.

“When Shannon called, it was clear to me that he was a little shocked by the footage he was filming.”

DeFlorio said Alexander told him after viewing the footage that he saw orbs and heard strange noises that he didn’t pick up during filming.

Meanwhile, Javier’s family, frightened by the boys’ deranged claims that the ghost was targeting the youngster, sought help, resulting in a visit from Chris.

When he showed up at the property, Chris said he immediately felt something was off.

“It’s something you can’t explain in words, but a feeling you never forget after the first time you’re exposed to it,” he said.

Chris said the ghost played a twisted game with Javier, where he initially tried to befriend the boy and play games – only to threaten to kill the child, it is alleged.

Special equipment was deployed, which, according to Chris, confirmed his suspicions.

“There was no delay in picking up contours and mapping a ghost on my device,” he said. “Alarms went off on devices programmed to pick up energy in that local area.”

Chris started his usual habit of reading Catholic prayers in hopes of chasing away the negative spirits, but soon ran into a problem.

“When I started reading the prayers, Harmony felt sick. She started feeling dizzy and nauseous… symptoms she always feels in the presence of evil,” he said.

He claimed that he began to suffer from physical attacks – internal attacks that Chris says are caused by ghosts, which he says aim to attack the ghost and cause confusion and distraction.

“The words I was reading became difficult to pronounce, even though they were right on the page,” he said.

At one point, he told him to take a break, which alarmed his wife that her husband might be in trouble. But the Catholic prayers continued and included the small exorcisms of the house. As he read the scriptures, he said, activities were taking place at home.

“Demonic entities can stretch out their hand, because one thing it hates is all that is holy and all of God,” he said. “Here it lacks control and will expose itself,” he said.

DeFlorio said the boy’s mother, who claims she began seeing ghosts in her youth, started screaming that “many would come” and wasn’t happy that the ghost-busting duo was there.

The mother claims she saw an evil spirit walking towards Harmony in part of the room and DeFlorio said he made a “split-second decision” to call it out and dare it to come to him instead from to his wife.

“This was the moment when I realized that not only was the family in danger, but my wife and I were now being targeted as well,” he said.

The filmmaker told DailyMail.com that he “had no intention of letting this story play out like this.”

“The story was initially about sleep paralysis, but evolved into the family being ravaged by demons,” he said.

“It was a bunch of weird stuff that I finally decided wasn’t a coincidence. Lights go out and weird shadowy figures move across the screen,’ he said.

“I witnessed cameras and audio equipment moving towards Ashley and nearly attacking her.

“When playing back and editing the footage, there were hissing noises and recorded voices that sounded demonic.”

He claimed the first time he encountered the creepy paranormal activity was when he interviewed Ashley’s 13-year-old daughter, Selena, standing in the hallway of the family’s home.

The teen claimed to have seen these shadowy figures before, and the same activity occurred when he spoke to the Javier, although not as outspoken, he said.

The house, an apartment in a housing development on the Bushwick-Williamsburg border, has been in Ashley’s husband’s family for generations.

He said that every time the family left the house, the ghosts would follow Ashley. Once it started to haunt the kids, Alexander said he looked for an exorcist or demonologist and found Chris.

The trailer continues with the boy’s mom saying, “I woke up to a man in black standing at the foot of my bed,” she said.

While Javier’s terrified sister says, “There was a funny smell and to the right of me I saw a black shadow near the wall.”

And before the movie ends, DeFlorio is seen putting the young boy down and telling him that this entity is “not your friend.”
