Meet the Chicagoans who are voting for Donald Trump even though their home city hosted the DNC

Several Chicagoans have openly announced that they will vote for Donald Trump, despite the fact that the city has been hosting the Democratic National Party Convention since Monday.

DailyMail.com spoke to more than a dozen people on the streets of Chicago to hear what the Windy City is thinking about the upcoming election.

A Chicago man told DailyMail.com that he would vote for Trump because “I think his policies are better.”

“I want the border closed. Democrats are not really offering anything.”

Closing the southern border with Mexico is one of Trump’s key policies, something he has touted since his first presidential campaign in 2015.

When asked what he thought of the DNC’s presence in his hometown, the Chicago native calmly replied that everything was “well under control” and that the security situation was “better than I expected.”

A man who got into a heated argument with a passerby told DailyMail.com: ‘Everything is more expensive now. When Trump was in power, we had stimulus checks.’

A fellow protester said: “People need to know the facts.”

Trump signed major bills, including stimulus checks, into law in the early months of the pandemic.

One man said that Donald Trump “may be racist… but he has done things for the country that a lot of presidents haven’t done.”

When asked if he could forgive racism in exchange for Trump helping America, he replied, “A little bit.”

While the vast majority of Chicagoans said they would vote for Kamala Harris, some said they were on the Trump team.

Chicago has traditionally been a Democratic city, with a Democratic mayor every year since 1927.

Vice President Kamala Harris accepted her party’s nomination and laid out her policy agenda on the fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday. Now, as activists, operatives and party leaders begin to leave Chicago, there’s a harsh reality: The real test for Harris has only just begun.

Meanwhile, on a dirt road beneath the scrubby hills of Arizona, Donald Trump used a stretch of wall and a stack of steel beams to create a visual contrast between his approach to securing the border and that of his opponent.

Today, the Republican presidential candidate will appear in the Phoenix area just miles away from independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Speculation is mounting that Kennedy could withdraw his candidacy and endorse Trump.
