E-commerce platform Meesho’s Mega Blockbuster Sale begins today, October 6, 2023. The platform is offering heavy discounts of up to 80 percent on various categories such as essential items, accessories, electronics, shoes, etc.
The blockbuster sale will end on October 13, 2023. The Softbank-backed e-commerce platform will start its festive sale a day before Flipkart or Amazon’s festive sale goes live.
Meesho’s first Mega Blockbuster sale will sell over 400 brands directly with the help of authorized partners in the digital store called “Meesho Mall”.
Meesho reports more than 10 million pre-holiday orders
The e-commerce platform recently claimed to have received over 10 million (approx) from the pre-festive sales during Onam, Raksha Bandhan and Ganesh Chaturthi.
The platform also added over 50 lakh new customers during these sales. The surprising thing is that over 75 percent of the demand came from Tier-II cities including Amravati, Aurangabad, Dehradun, Nellore, Solapur and Warangal. Meesho also claims to have added more than two lakh sellers in the last two years.
Meesho has over 14 lakh sellers, selling around 12 crore products across 30 different categories.
Meesho hires a non-GST seller
To increase its seller base, the company announced the onboarding of non-GST sellers on the platform earlier this week. The GST Council has announced to allow the e-commerce platform to onboard sellers with a turnover of up to Rs 40 lakh.
Before Meesho’s Mega Blockbuster Sale, the company launched a loyalty program where eligible users earn Smart Coins, which the user can redeem every time they purchase products on the platform.
According to Redseer, more than 140 million shoppers are expected to make purchases during the holiday season. This will increase the Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of the Indian e-commerce sector by 18 to 20 percent and could reach Rs 90,000 crore, compared to Rs 76,000 crore last year.
What Megha Agarwal said about the sale?
Commenting on this year’s seasonal sale, Megha Agarwal, CXO said, “As we prepare for the upcoming festivities, we are sure to see a boost in categories like personal care and beauty, home and kitchen and electronic accessories. grow by more than 100%, compared to 2022.”
Megha also added that the company’s strategic efforts also include selection enhancement and product discovery enhancement and have contributed significantly in improving order growth.
