Meduza says it’s ‘inspirational’ working alongside Kim Petras and OneRepublic after being announced as UEFA EURO 2024’s official music artists

Meduza revealed it was 'inspiring' to collaborate with Kim Petras and OneRepublic after they were announced as the official music artists of UEFA EURO 2024.

The official music artists of the tournament will unveil the expected song in the spring of 2024.

The Italian production trio, who were nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019, exclusively told MailOnline that the artists have already come together to work on music in a studio in Los Angeles.

Meduza, made up of Mattia Vitale, Simone Giani and Luca De Gregorio, explained: 'It's so inspiring and working with legends like them is always great. You can learn a lot during the writing process.

'They come from pop music and the way they write toplines and working arrangements is completely different from what we do in house music. So working together and creating that balance between the worlds is, I repeat, inspiring.”

They added: “We've been in the studio together in LA with their crew working on music, top lines and all that classic stuff. It was great, they are so humble and kind, a great team to work with.”

Speaking about the announcement, they said: 'As football fans we feel so proud and happy. It is a life goal for us: to combine our two greatest passions in life.

“It's something that happens once in a lifetime and that's why we feel blessed and honored to be part of this project.”

The song, together with other musical elements such as the walkout sound and TV sequences, will capture the shared spirit of football and music and reflect the unity, passion and diversity at the heart of EURO 2024.

German pop sensation Kim Petras, who reached incredible new heights with her 2023 global Grammy-winning collaboration with Sam Smith, said: “In my home country Germany, football has always been a big deal.

'I have so many wonderful memories of watching the matches with my friends and family. Nothing is a greater honor for me and I'm so excited to team up with Meduza and OneRepublic to create the official song for 2024!'

OneRepublic's lead singer Ryan Tedder, winner of three Grammy Awards, said: “Growing up, American football and soccer were the sports I played the most from the age of five.

'Performing at the closing ceremony of EURO 2024 in Berlin is an incredible opportunity and honor for any artist, but for me personally it is really exciting. The energy that this sport brings cannot be compared to anything else in the world. We absolutely cannot wait.'

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director, commented: 'Combining people's most popular passions, music and football, is ideal for creating an immersive UEFA EURO 2024 experience. Meduza, OneRepublic and Kim Petras, with their diverse and exceptional talent, embody our vision of unity through football.”

UEFA EURO 2024 should be a milestone, celebrating not only Europe's football qualities, but also its cultural diversity and unity.

In a climactic finale, the closing ceremony will feature a live performance of the official song by the three artists.

UEFA EURO 2024 will take place from June 14 to July 14, 2024 in ten host cities in Germany: Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.

Meduza is best known for their 2019 breakthrough song Piece of Your Heart with Goodboys, which was a 2019 Grammy nomination in the best dance recordings category.

Speaking about exploding on stage, they told MailOnline: 'It was completely unexpected to be honest, we were in the studio just doing what we love and not thinking about the consequences, and then everything happened quickly.

“So that year we didn't realize what was happening to our lives, we lived and enjoyed every moment, we lived our dream.”

Commenting on the pressure musicians face, they added: 'There's always pressure, after every release people expect something bigger and stronger from us, and I can understand that. It's part of the process and it's a challenge for us to improve every time.'

The DJs, known collectively as Our House, highlight the lack of enjoyment in the moment at today's concerts, where audiences often prioritize capturing content over connecting and dancing with each other.

They explained: 'Last summer, during the Ibiza season, I saw a few other artists perform and I noticed that a lot of people were filming the whole show on their phones, just filming the drop or the visuals and not paying attention donated to music. or the atmosphere of the room being really sad.

'We are DJs and our job is to make people dance and have fun. But this way we can't create any feeling among the audience and it's like playing a Spotify playlist for random people. That's why we decided to bring back the old atmosphere in our house, when telephones were not yet a thing in the club.'
