In the video, which was shared last week, students reacted very strongly to the content shown in the lecture hall.

Some cowered and covered their eyes, while others dropped their jaws before holding their heads in their hands.

The overlay text in the clip read: “We showed aspiring doctors a video of a live C-section to see if they could handle medical school.”

The caption joked, “These high school students were STRESSED.”

The university’s video was quickly flooded with hundreds of mixed reactions.

Many viewers believed the young women’s responses were about them’giving up being a mother and not a doctor.”

One person wrote: ‘To be honest, I wonder if many girls’ reactions were more of “holy s***, I might have to go through this when I have kids” rather than “major surgery.”’

Another commented: ‘The girls’ reactions make me think that at some point they become more concerned about this.’

Others were fascinated by the calm reactions of some students, who praised them as perfect candidates for medical school.

One person wrote: ‘The girl who isn’t phased and drinks her water is our next surgeon, y’all.’

Another person added: “Those who smile and look with their mouths open without blinking in fascination will make it and (become) possible surgeons.”

Elsewhere, other followers shared their personal anecdotes from when they watched similar videos during their own medical training.

One person wrote, “When I saw my first live c-section in nursing school I almost fainted so yeah, I get it.”

Another person added, “I saw surgery as (a) pre-med student… Biggest mistake of my life… Because I didn’t know anything about (the) healthcare…

‘Now I can’t handle the operation and as a master I will only have to choose medicine.’

Another said: ‘And this is why I went to art school. No medical school. In my high school health class, we were shown a video of a man who had brain surgery after a car accident so we wouldn’t drink and drive.

‘It made a terrible crunching noise when the doctor poked it with a tool and I put my head on my desk and cried throughout the rest of the class. Really traumatic.

‘I salute anyone who is actually capable of being a doctor/nurse/surgeon/etc. to be. You are all much stronger than me.”

One person said, “I remember blacking out and falling in the emergency operating room for three days in a row during my first days of student training.”

Another person added: ‘I do biopsies and procedures all the time and I still cringe and gag when the needles are put in, lol.’

One person offered advice to the worried-looking students in the video, writing, “You learn to deal with it in medical school, so please don’t worry if you can handle blood and surgery in high school. You can still be a doctor!’
