Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman went to X to defend himself after his former teammates in New York accused him of leaking the Jets’ game plans.
Several members of the Jets roster took to traded him mid-season.
Hardman posted a tweet in his defense on Friday afternoon: “FALSE accusations have been made about me and MY CHARACTER! To set the record straight, I have never leaked game plans to another team and never will. I have never been one to give an opponent the upper hand. I always want to win, no matter the circumstances!!!!!’
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith recently commented on the rumors surrounding Hardman, saying he believes the Super Bowl winning pass catcher should file a lawsuit if the allegations are in fact untrue due to the potential impact on his future career .
Hardman’s agent has also fought back against what he called “a laughable and ridiculous accusation.”

The 25-year-old had left the Chiefs in free agency last year to sign a one-year deal with New York, but the Jets ultimately sent Hardman back to Kansas City, along with a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025 title. sixth round pick.
Hardman played just 28 snaps and had one reception during his short time with the Jets.

Hardman had stated that he told Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and quarterback Patrick Mahomes to “come get him,” which general manager Joe Douglas said “resonated” with those within the organization.
The Jets may choose to investigate possible tampering charges against the Chiefs over Hardman’s comments, which could potentially lead to Kansas City being punished with draft picks if found guilty.
Hardman also recently laughed off the idea of re-signing with the New York Jets
