Meadowbrook unit blaze: Woman accused of torching man’s home in attempted murder bid after allegedly threatening him in the middle of the night

A Queensland woman has been accused of trying to kill a man she knew after allegedly setting his house on fire.

Emergency services were called to University Drive in Meadowbrook, south of Brisbane, on Saturday morning after reports of a unit fire.

The resident, a 26-year-old man, suffered burns to his hands and was treated at the scene.

A 30-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with “significant burns” and charged with attempted murder and arson late on Saturday, according to Queensland police.

“It is alleged the woman attended a home on University Drive at around 4am and threatened a man who knew her before deliberately setting fire to his unit,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said.

Police say the woman lives in Marsden, about 4 miles west of the Meadowbrook unit.

The woman remains in hospital and is expected to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
