‘McScurry’: Rodent is filmed crawling over chair in McDonald’s in front of terrified customers

A ‘petrified’ McDonald’s lover filmed the moment she saw a rodent running around the next table, causing her to scream and run from the restaurant as it ‘ran towards her’.

Chloe Thompson was eating her Sausage and Egg McMuffin at the fast food giant’s Tilbury branch, Essex, when she saw vermin rummaging around as Ed Sheeran’s 2017 number one Galway Girl played in the background.

Footage of the stunned 18-year-old, filmed earlier this month, shows the plague scurrying across the seat and back of the chair as she looks shocked and says: “I feel like I’m in a dream.”

Chloe thought the creature was a ‘baby rat’, though her mother Kelly Mullins admits it could be a mouse.

She claims that when she notified staff that they were ‘chasing the rat with a bin’, the ‘petrified’ teenager screamed and fled the store without finishing her meal.

The clerical worker’s ‘disgusted’ mother, Kelly, posted the video on Facebook, where it racked up more than 118,000 views.

One user explained that seeing it made her “feel sick”, while another said it was “disgusting McF**king”.

The 47-year-old mother says the rodent could have urinated on the restaurant’s tables and confirmed her daughter won’t be visiting McDonald’s again anytime soon despite it being her “favorite” fast food chain.

McDonald’s confirmed that an environmental health officer attended the restaurant after the ‘sighting’, as well as pest control experts, and both found no ‘signs of pest activity’.

Kelly, from Thurrock, Essex, said: ‘Chloe was petrified. The rodent was climbing all over the chairs and tables and apparently when rodents run they urinate.

He sent me the video of the mouse saying “OMG I have to tell him” so he went up to the counter and told someone.

‘A staff member rolled her eyes [at Chloe]and then he went to get a bin and he was running around chasing this baby rat.

‘When the waiter rolled his eyes it was like he knew it was a problem so why don’t they fix it? He is disgusting.

‘While they were chasing him with the trash can, the mouse ran towards Chloe. She just screamed and ran away. She won’t be eating McDonald’s for a while and it’s her favorite.

“Seeing a rat in a restaurant when you’re eating is disgusting.”

Her boyfriend had dropped Chloe off at McDonald’s for breakfast before work and sent the video to her mother shortly after filming it.

Kelly’s Facebook post, titled simply “Tilbury McDonald’s this morning,” has attracted more than 700 comments and 1,500 shares.

One commented: ‘The new McScurry. I can not stop watching.

Another said: ‘Gloomy! I mean they pee while running! They are incontinent!

A third added: “OMG it made me sick.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: ‘Hygiene and cleanliness are of the utmost importance to us.

“Pest control experts visited the restaurant the same day we learned of this sighting, they also conducted a follow-up visit this week and confirmed no signs of pest activity anywhere inside.

‘The environmental health officer has visited and they too are satisfied that there is absolutely no problem with the restaurant.

‘As standard practice, regular routine checks of the Tilbury restaurant and the surrounding area are carried out by pest control experts, helping to ensure that the restaurant continues to maintain a Food Hygiene Classification of 5’.
