McDonald’s in Tarneit is locked down after two men are injured following late night shooting

Two men were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds after a late-night shooting that closed down a McDonald’s parking lot.

Police were called to Friendship Drive in Tarneit in Melbourne’s west shortly after midnight on Wednesday after reports of gunshots.

Officers started a search, but could not find anyone.

They found an injured man on Tarneit Rd a short time later suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A second man was subsequently found on nearby Derrimut Road with upper body injuries.

It is believed he was shot at least once.

He was taken to hospital in critical but stable condition with life-threatening injuries.

The McDonald’s parking lot was cordoned off as a crime scene.

Police investigated two vehicles, including a Mercedes with a damaged rear bumper.

Shoes and other discarded items were scattered nearby.

No arrests have been made.

“Police have yet to determine the exact circumstances of what happened and the investigation is ongoing,” a police statement said.
