McDonald’s is set to take over as sponsor of French football’s top division after signing a three-year deal with Ligue 1.
The fast-food chain will replace Uber Eats as title sponsor of the French league thanks to a deal reportedly worth $65 million (60 million euros), according to L’Equipe newspaper and RMC Sport.
According to reports, McDonald’s has proposed to pay around 20 million euros per season from next season.
Uber Eats currently pays 15 million euros per season as part of their sponsorship deal.
The name of the league will change from Ligue 1 Uber Eats to Ligue 1 McDonald’s.

The league said in a statement to the AP that there are “active discussions regarding the naming of Ligue 1 for future seasons,” but would not comment on rumors.
It added that it “will communicate once the decisions have been finalized and validated by our governing bodies.”
McDonald’s declined to comment on the reported deal and the amounts involved.
“As an active partner in amateur sports, and football in particular, we are very curious about the possibilities to support French sports,” the Chicago company said.
Hours after news of the new sponsorship, Ligue 1’s biggest team PSG recorded a 2-1 win in the Champion’s League against La Liga’s Real Sociedad.
The victory meant PSG advanced to the round of 16 of the Champions League for the first time since the 2020-2021 season.
