Revealed by a Macca’s fan on TIkTok, the surprising ingredient shocked many, as many didn’t even know the popular dip was made with fruit.
With her favorite Macca’s sauce, the British TikToker expressed her surprise at her discovery.

A fan of a British Macca shared the little-known fact online, which surprised many of her followers, some of whom were unaware that the dip was made from fruit.
“Am I the only one who didn’t know what fruit it’s made of?”
“Guess what,” she said before counting down to the big reveal.
“F*****g Apricot, it’s apricot,” she exclaimed.
Her followers were also surprised by the revelation.
“I said mango so confidently. I had no idea it was even a fruit,” said one woman.
“I’ve been my favorite sauce for 23 years and never thought of reading the ingredients,” wrote another.
“So McDonalds gives one of you five a day?” asked a smart woman.
“The worst fruit in existence makes the best sauce,” commented another.
Many TikTok users suspected that it was made from pineapple or mango, it was believed that it could be made from banana.
Others added that apricot is used in many McDonald’s sauces.
“Same goes for their curry sauce,” one woman commented.
Food content creator Raphael Gomes tried to make the iconic sweet and sour sauce from a drained recipe using everyday ingredients.
He mixed 1/4 cup apricot preserves, 1/4 cup peach preserves, two tablespoons corn syrup, five teaspoons white vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon mustard, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon garlic, and a 1/2 teaspoon 2 tsp cornstarch.
He then emulsified the mix with a blender before adding two tablespoons of water and bringing the mix to a boil for five minutes.
