McDonald’s fan-favorite ‘collector’s meal’ cups are resold online for staggering price: ‘Insane!’

McDonald’s fans who want to get their hands on all six of the fast food chain’s collectible cups can skip the drive-thru and purchase them online — if they’re willing to spend $100 on eBay.

The restaurant’s limited-edition Collector’s Meals come with cups featuring designs inspired by Barbie, Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola, Hello Kitty, Peanuts, Shrek, Jurassic Park, Minions and McDonald’s itself.

Meal prices vary, though a Collector’s Sausage McMuffin with egg cost just under $10 in the Orlando area, Fox 32 reported.

On eBay, sellers have been offering the collectibles with staggering profit margins of $80 Unpleasant $100 – with more than one person trying to get $150 for all six cups.

McDonald’s began offering the cups at participating locations on August 13.

Each piece is based on more than one previous collectible mug, including the Grimace and Pet Lovin’ Barbie mugs released by McDonald’s in 1976 and 1999, respectively.

“There’s a tremendous feeling when you acquire that elusive McDonald’s collectible or complete the final piece of your collection,” said Morgan Flatley, McDonald’s Global Chief Marketing Officer and Head of New Business Ventures, in a press release.

‘These new collector’s cups commemorate some of our most unforgettable designs and global collaborations over the years, allowing loyal fans to relive their cherished moments and a new generation to create their own lasting memories.’

Despite the high prices on the resale market, there were objections on social media about the quality of the cups.

A TikTok user known as Miss. B went viral last week after comparing the collectibles to two previous mugs.

“How did we go from the beautiful, heavy, engraved glass to this… I’m so disappointed,” she said.

Several commenters chose not to have a cup after the review.

“I was excited at first, but then I realized they didn’t look like the glasses from our past. So I’m not going to waste my time looking for them,” the user wrote.

Another added: ‘I was just about to go to McDonald’s to get one. This has changed my mind. Thank you, kind internet stranger.’
