A new feature at McDonald’s drive-thru has shocked customers, with many claiming it exposes their eating habits.

The fast food chain has introduced a personal greeting on digital screens, so that customers who order via the My Maccas app can see their name on the screen when they come to pick up their food.

Although it was first introduced in December, it has recently been noticed by fans – many have become confused with the individualized greeting.

Influencer Jasmine Hand recently discovered the update, which left her baffled.

“Can someone tell me when this became a thing at Macca’s because I feel like I’ve been exposed,” she said in a video.

“You should change the name on your app to: beautiful, so at Maccas it will say ‘great to see you beautiful’ then Maccas compliments you,” added a third.

“I won’t go to Maccas again if I’m called like that,” remarked another.

“This happened to me recently and I almost died,” one wrote.

“Mine keeps coming up with random names,” said another.

Others said they felt “special,” while many said it was “embarrassing.”

Those who are not a fan of the feature can turn it off in the app.

“We know that not all customers will appreciate the personalized greeting, so we’ve made it a feature that MyMacca customers can opt out of by going to their settings in the app,” a spokesperson for the fast food giant said. news.com.au.
