McDonald’s customer divides diners after complaining about ‘ratchet’ state of fast food restaurant

A young woman who complained about the shocking state of a Melbourne McDonald’s has divided fellow customers, with many saying it was likely a matter of ‘understaffing’.

The TikTokker shared her scathing review of the fast food restaurant on Swanson Street in the city’s CBD, which she described as the ‘rattling’ McDonald’s.

Her video showed an overflowing trash can with cups and paper bags falling to the floor.

She also claimed she had to wait ‘ten minutes’ before being served because the self-service kiosks were broken.

“And they still messed up my entire order,” she said.

She then filmed herself entering the bathroom, where a large hole could be seen in one of the walls.

‘I was disappointed but not surprised when I entered the toilets amid the vomit and s**t residue. It was the missing soap dispenser that bothered me the most,” she said, filming the spot where the soap dispenser once stood on the wall.

While many agreed that McDonald’s needed to be cleaned up, others pointed out that staff likely needed more support.

“I feel sorry for the Maccas workers in town, no one respects them and they don’t have enough staff,” one person commented.

“Maybe, just maybe it’s because it’s one of the busiest Maccas stores in Victoria and they don’t have the staff to clean 24/7,” said another.

She said she was “disappointed” by the state of the bathroom, which also did not have a soap dispenser

A McDonald’s employee said customers who complain should try taking a shift at the fast-food chain and see how well they do.

“Like we’re in the middle of a huge rush and they still expect us to drop everything and clean up, then they get mad that it’s taking them a while to eat,” they said.

‘Blame the customers. Not Maccas. People are absolutely nasty,” said another.

Meanwhile, others said the condition of the restaurant was unacceptable and that it was up to staff to keep the restaurant clean and report any damage to management.

“My managers would never allow this,” one said.

‘I work at KFC and our managers would be very angry if we left it like this. We are told to replace the bins when they become full,” said another.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said the soap dispenser has been replaced and the hole in the wall has since been repaired.

“At McDonald’s, we strive to provide our customers with a great experience every time they visit one of our restaurants,” they said.

“We are following strict cleaning, sanitizing and hygiene procedures in all restaurants, including routine cleaning of the dining room and restrooms.

“We have discussed this with the restaurant to ensure we can continue to provide a safe and clean restaurant, as well as a great customer experience.”
