A customer was shocked to discover rubbish and food scraps strewn across a McDonald’s restaurant.
Jackie Zovas was visiting one of the fast food restaurants in Cheltenham, Melbourne, last Saturday when she was surprised by its ‘rotten’ state.
She filmed the shocking scenes on her phone, showing images of bins full of rubbish and tables littered with rubbish.
Food scraps and wrappers were also seen scattered on the floor and kitchen benches as staff walked around them.
Social media users remained divided; some criticized the state of the restaurant, while others sympathized with the staff who were clearly working during one of the busiest times of the day.

Ms Zovas said McDonald’s was “super busy” when she first walked in and noticed there were only three staff members scheduled.
She was nevertheless disgusted, claiming that some items given to customers had been under the heat lamp for “a while.”
“I felt really nauseous to the point that I actually asked to cancel my order because I felt like eating this food would make me sick, such is the health hazard I think,” shared she. Yahoo.
Social media users were also disgusted by the video, saying cleanliness standards had fallen in locations across Australia.
“I’ve seen this pop up in many locations,” one user wrote, adding: “Standards are falling and prices are rising.”
“I understand the restaurant may be dirty after the Saturday night crowds, but behind the counter?” asked a second.
A third said they had ‘stopped eating (Maccas) years ago’ because the food had become ‘rubbish’.

Other social media users defended the staff, saying those who criticized them had not worked in the hospitality industry.
“It shows that none of you have worked a busy shift in a kitchen. You think food doesn’t fall on the floor,” one user wrote.
Another wrote that the restaurant was clearly understaffed, saying: “If they had enough staff they would have all night to take care of it.”
A McDonald’s Australia spokesperson said the fast-food chain is “committed to providing our customers with a great experience every time they visit one of our restaurants.”
“We are following strict cleaning, sanitizing and hygiene procedures in all restaurants, including routine cleaning of the dining room,” the spokesperson said.
“We are working with the restaurant to ensure we continue to provide a safe and clean restaurant, with a great customer experience.”
