Maya Jama has responded to fans who accused her of moving on with her girlfriend following her recent split from ex-boyfriend Stormzy.
The 29-year-old Love Island presenter and the 30-year-old rapper confirmed in a statement last week that their split is “final”, after they split in 2019 and reconnected in August last year.
But just a week later, Maya is forced to come clean and deny that she is in a “rebound” relationship with her friend Chunkz.
This past weekend, she shared snaps on Instagram from a new ad campaign for Google’s Gemini, featuring 28-year-old YouTuber Chunkz.
The internet celebrity, whose real name is Amin Mohamed, has been friends with Maya for years and is said to have recently tied the knot.

To promote the app, she shared a bunch of behind-the-scenes photos from the ad, showing Maya laughing with Chunkz and folding a bouquet of flowers.
But some of her followers seemed to misunderstand and posted a comment wondering if the two were in a relationship.
They wrote: ‘Is Chunkz finally getting his chance? I know Chunkz is so happy right now. Come on Chunkz. Now it’s your time.’
‘My buddy Chunkz always comes up after a breakup; Chunkz saw Stormzy’s story and thought: this is my chance’.
But Maya responded to a comment saying, “I feel like she’s just using chunkz as some kind of celebrity rebound.”
She responded, “We’re friends and we shot a commercial together…are you guys crazy?” followed by a crying laughing emoji.
Several fans also came to her defense, writing, “People are just ignoring that Chunkz already has a girl in his life… The comment section doesn’t pass the vibe test.”
‘God these comments, women and men can be friends yuno. I think we should all mind our own business and listen to the statement they made about respecting their privacy and giving them space’.

Sources told MailOnline the couple had been arguing about their lifestyle, with Stormzy being more of a homebody.
Meanwhile, Maya is focusing on her career. She is the face of luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana, ambassador for Rimmel London and in demand by streaming giant Netflix.
A source close to the couple revealed: ‘Maya and Stormzy have very different views on their future.
‘Stormzy wanted to settle down, while Maya is enjoying her career. She is ambitious and wants to prioritize achieving everything she can.
“She also loves to travel and party, but at 29 she’s not ready for the next chapter.”
The couple’s statement said: ‘We laughed when we wrote this because we never, ever thought we would be the couple announcing a split.
But Maya hit back, replying to a comment that read: ‘ICL I feel like she’s just using chunkz as a celebrity rebound’ and writing: ‘we’re friends who filmed a commercial together… are y’all crazy?’ followed by a crying laughing emoji

Maya and Stormzy made separate appearances at Wimbledon earlier this month, with the rapper visiting Evian’s Mountain of Youth VIP suite on his own on Thursday, while Maya partied into the early hours at the popular Chiltern Firehouse.
They were last seen together, hand in hand, on July 5 at the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone, where Stormzy made a headline appearance.
The couple also attended Glastonbury festival last month, after which Maya flew by helicopter to the ITV studios, where she will present Love Island spin-off show Aftersun live on Sunday evening.
In recent weeks, Stormzy has opened House Party, a bar he co-founded in Soho, London. The bar has been transformed into a traditional house party venue.
Maya shared video footage of the starry night on June 6 on her Instagram Story, where the couple were joined by celebrities including Louise Redknapp and Julie Adenuga.
