Maya Jama broke her silence on her rumored romance with footballer Ruben Dias as she hit back at a troll on social media on Tuesday.

The Love Island presenter, 30, is believed to be dating the Manchester City star after the pair were pictured celebrating New Year’s Eve together in Ibiza.

They reportedly had a secret relationship a month ago, after Maya first caught Ruben’s attention when they first met at the European Music Awards.

Recently, an Instagram post from Dias’ New Year’s celebrations further fueled speculation that they are dating.

The compilation of eleven photos included a photo of two people staring at a sunset with their backs to the camera and their faces hidden, although they appear to be a man and a woman – and fans were certain it was Maya.

Now, Maya has addressed the speculation for the first time on X when she responded to a troll’s comment.

One user had written a tweet about people who “spend all day on the internet obsessing over people they don’t know and their relationships.”

Maya quoted their tweet with screenshots of previous posts from the same user, reacting to news of her romance with Ruben by writing, “She doesn’t rest” and that “women who jump from relationship to relationship are creepy.”

Hitting back, the presenter simply wrote: ‘Oh.. but..’ alongside two laughing emojis.

When Ruben shared the photo supposedly showing Maya, one fan wrote, “Maya Jama hard launch,” while others posted GIFs and images of her under his post.

Another appeared to be a fan of a possible relationship between the two, adding: “I ship Ruben and Maya so bad (sic).”

One follower seemed to poke a fan about the fact that Dias is currently injured with a calf problem, writing: ‘You can pull Maya Jama but you can’t withdraw yourself on the pitch?’

A source said The sun: ‘Maya and Ruben exchanged information at the EMAs and have been talking ever since, but things went into overdrive in early December.

‘When Ruben got injured and had to miss the busy New Year’s matches, he took the opportunity to see Maya in Spain in 2025. Spending New Year’s Eve together was a real step forward in their relationship.

‘They get on really well and are clearly a lovely couple, but it’s still early days.’

Maya and Ruben’s romance was first revealed when a social media clip emerged of them celebrating the New Year together in Ibiza.

Although Maya shared a racy photo on her Stories as she celebrated the New Year, she did not post any photos to Dias.

Last month, Maya shared a huge hint that she is serious about her romance with Manchester City star Ruben.

Discussing her hopes for ‘marriage and children’ in a recent interview, the Love Island host admitted she ‘didn’t need anyone’ and would only date with the intention.

The pair were pictured celebrating the New Year together in Ibiza this week, after first linking up in November.

Speaking to the The Evening Standard in November, Maya explained, “I’m so happy right now, but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so I’m obviously picky.

‘I have created such a beautiful life for myself alone and I don’t want anyone who is not going to add anything to it.

“I’m in this beautiful bubble and I don’t want you unless you make me happy. If you’re not, I don’t really need you.’

Maya announced her split from rapper Stormzy in July, after issuing a joint statement on Instagram that read: ‘We fell in love in 2014, broke up in 2019 and spent five years maneuvering our lives apart.

They confirmed the split was ‘final’ after previously going their separate ways after a five-year relationship in 2019 and reconnecting in August 2023.

Although it was thought the couple split after disagreements over when to settle down, with Stormzy being more of a homeboy and Maya more career-driven, she confirmed last month that this was not the case.

After photos emerged of the 31-year-old rapper and his new girlfriend Victoria Monet, Maya took to Instagram to take the opportunity to say that the “I don’t want to settle down and have kids” narrative is a lie. ‘

It was reported that the former couple split because Maya wanted to focus on her career instead of settling down with the “homebody” rapper.
